#Only sync emails without onboarding contacts.

I was thinking about this...
I have a lot of junk emails (not actual junk) but a lot of emails that don't really need to be in a CRM.

Should we have an option to not sync contacts, but if we onboard the contact, their emails will sync ?

and possibly a way to onboard a contact by using a URL in the BCC area (which is what hubspot does) so if i send an email to a new contact, i can BCC a url and the CRM will pick it up and add it to the database.
twenty would generate a url that you could add to the BCC.

For Gmail users, as we can use tags to sort out emails..
Maybe we could have the option to sync for specific tags only.
so if you have a contact in a tag called "important contacts" that contact will get onboarded + all their emails.

@errant shuttle, if you disable contact creation it should do what you describe:

  • do not create a contact but assign incoming emails to existing contacts

Regarding the other point, maybe @rare salmon could give some product inputs 🙂

yes the BCC would be great to build.
we'd need to create a catch all email ; on our cloud we use AWS SES which supports it: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/dg/receiving-email.html
it's not very hard to build but not on our near term roadmap. Any PR implementing this would be welcome of course

And same for "sync given tags only" (sub feature of Blocklist), this one I had logged on Github already (maybe in Discussions tab), we would love to have it but we won't build it short-term
