#Demo feedback from a Diablo/Torchlight vet

@cold shale Why so rude?
I get that but they're looking for feedback. I'm just giving mine. IMO games should have a decent amount of content in them before they're released to the public.
It’s a pre-alpha demo. Pre-alpha means that it’s not ready to be released to the public.. they are giving this out for people to get a bit hyped by the potential they can see.
Yeah I know. I was in the Torchlight II friends & family pre-alpha but even that had more to it. There's a concern people will confuse this with other early access games that generally are actual games despite not being full-featured releases. I just worry they'll have people coming in and thinking it's farther along than it is.
I'm all for supporting what they're doing. I just can't really help do that when there's not a lot to comment on. Even the conversations I'm seeing about game mechanics are talking about a lot of elements where people don't even know whether or not this stuff will actually be in the game.
It doesn't really do them any good to have everyone glazing their game like there aren't things the devs should be concerned about, y'know?
No, that’s fair. I’m just telling you that they know why they did this. It’s a small gamble but if it succeeds it will allow them to produce the game without outside influence. They are betting that KS will be successful based on the demo release. Thats what they want as well.
Otherwise you are dealing with publishers etc etc and their vision will have to change
I feel bad I'm not able to pitch into their kickstarter but along with not having any money I have issues with studios partnered with publishers going to kickstarter.
Having said that, no one is glazing anything. I’ve seen a lot of “negative” feedback, I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback as well. Truth is somewhere in the middle and they decide what they want to do with it. It depends on if you understand that you are actually playing a pre-alpha demo or not. The game play features they have for this stage of development are impressive. There are a lot or problems as well for the demo they released.
It could have been more polished especially since it’s a very very small part of the full game and they wanted to release it to the public.
At least you're being fair in your replies instead of just leaving a poop emoji lol
They don’t have a publisher if I’m not mistaken (which is why they are doing KS). They want to be independent if they can. No comment on the rest because it’s a valid concern.
The company raised $4.5 million in seed funding from investors including 1AM Gaming, 1UP Ventures, and Overwolf.
You had valid feedback lol. I may or may not agree with it but your feedback was valid.
Doesn’t mean they have a publisher. It just means they have some external backers who have a stake in their company. At least that’s my understanding.
Yeah. Again-I'm all for supporting them I just have been leery of corporations getting more and more involved with Kickstarter projects when it really was supposed to be more about people not having to depend as much on those very corporations. At any rate I'm glad Erich, Peter & co. are still out there making games. I miss Travis but he seems much happier doing his book & voiceover stuff 😄
So let me get this straight you're complaining that the game's not polished enough compared to other games that have had a technical demo release, then going to say that you don't really have any experience in game mechanics other than how it looks and sounds. Then claim you understand and that you've been part of others. Make it make sense either you've done this before and you do have the experience or you don't. Secondly regardless if another game has more or less we're not talking about that we are talking about dark Haven. Again you and everyone else has to understand what has been released is a technical demo it is the very basics of basic Foundation that says this is what we have let us know the direction we're going is correct or not. Technical demos will never ever be a polished Early Access demo people have to get that through their head.
I'm not trying to be a dick I'm just trying to be straight with everybody. Everybody's coming in here and taking it at face value as this is like an early Alpha demo when it's not even that. You can't sit there and claim that you wish the best for it and then treat it like it's some Early Access title
