#new player wondering why a level 6 Pichu would have less rest points than a level 5 pichu

I can't seem to post images yet so I can't use my screenshot to show what I am trying to ask about
At those levels one level makes very little difference, so it all comes down to their nature
Level 5, 318rp, quiet. Vs level 6, 298rp, mild.
Quiet says it lowers exp gains while mild lowers energy recovery. I feel like I'm missing something here.
From the game's perspective xp down doesn't affect the mon's personal power -it's the level it's at anyway
While energy down does
RP stands for "Research Power" not rest points.
No, the game doesn't have any IVs. All the unique things about a Pokémon are visible: The specific ingredients list, the subskills, and the nature. Each of these things if unlocked will affect RP (in addition to the Pokémon itself and its level).
As you notice, the only thing that is different between the two besides the level is the nature. Experience down does not affect RP, while Energy down reduces RP it by 8%. That's why it has a lower RP despite having a higher level.
Gotcha
