Hello all!
I would just like to talk about a small idea I had today with music playing.
I play the piano in real life, and I was incredibly excited to showcase some of my musical knowledge in translating certain tunes onto the Heartopia platform. However, my attempts to play more complicated pieces of music (accounting for both right and left hand parts, chords, running notes and such) left me very humbled in my ability to replicate some pieces on the computer keyboard. The odd mapping is one issue, as well as the fact that my fingers often overlap awkwardly if I am trying to play multiple melodies and harmonies at once.
I also happen to work in tech and programming, so I created a small script that translates my own version of music notation into keybinds that would then execute themselves onto Heartopia.
While I am very excited for the potential of using scripts to play more complicated music in Heartopia, I am not sure if some would find this to be bad practice in a game where you can make and sell Music CDs to other players. As I do not wish to get into trouble, I would love to find out what the community and devs think about this idea.
Note: Posted this again in player-guides-and-help, as it was previously full up over there. Apologies for the duplicate posts!
UPDATE: I have been informed that macros are not allowed! So unfornatunately I will have to scrap my plans to translate some of my favourite songs into the game. Let's ensure that everyone has access to the same gameplay experience without any outside tools or assistance. 😄
