I need you to understand that this isn’t an easy message to write, but I’m officially quitting Roblox and Roter Fuchs.
Over the years, I’ve spoken with many friends and long-time staff members who also quit after receiving death threats from trolls while working as staff. The game and its developers show little to no understanding when it comes to staff inactivity. In my case, I needed spine surgery, and despite explaining my situation, my request was denied and I was removed from the staff team.
This isn’t just about me. Other staff members face the same issue—whether it’s exams or personal matters, you’re allowed to submit inactivity notices only for so long before you’re eventually fired. Being staff simply isn’t worth it anymore. You deal with constant stress, threats, and pressure, while sacrificing time you should be using to study or take care of yourself.
On top of that, Roblox itself has gone downhill by removing many features that once made it enjoyable. Because of all this, I refuse to continue playing or supporting the game. Despite the memories I’ve made, I’m done.
And to answer the question of why I trolled: it was my way of responding to the death threats, the treatment of others, and the behavior of the developers.

Why use a water-cooling system when a human can create a piece? AI exist because it does things that humans physically couldn't.

Now why would you use generative AI when there are artist who can do the job?

Regular AI is a tool. A massive and helpful tool, even! In what i call 'centralized AI', which is AI being used in a specific closed circut, like a machine in a hospital, it can be used for things like detecting cancer cells before they form! It can be used to double-check doctors and nurses who are chronically over-worked and underpaid to make sure everything is lining up correctly, or a simple second screening to makw sure all the details are lining up correctly. I use Healthcare as an example bc that's the place I'm most familiar with, and that's where I can see it being the most helpful.

Generative AI, on the other hand, not only scrapes art from people online- almost all of whom are not being paid or agreeing to it- and then uses massive amounts of power and water to create an image with a lot of glaring issues. The power is used because the ability to generate an image is... well, not easy for a piece of tech. The water is used like crazy as a means to cool the tech so it doesn't go haywire. This is extra bad because they're almost always placed in communities who can't afford to say no, or communities where the water is already extremely limited.

I think the point of the conversation is that they should be paying actual artists to do the visual art of the game, or allow the players to earn in game money for their in game art, rather than using Generative AI which also steals from ACTUAL artists.

It's common knowledge that "plain" AI has been around for quite some time, and is even used in our daily use of social media and other things.

GEN AI is stealing job opportunities from REAL artists who could use the money or opportunity to share their art and get out there more.

Apologies for the long text post.

Someone asked if the 3D models were AI, just wanted to add as someone who's a 3D artist and done some character modelling before it's very likely NOT AI because AI cannot retoplogise mesh (pretty much sculpting a 3D model > cleaning it up with the correct retoplogy to animate it + rigging, it's a very tedious process). The animations on the characters in-game aren't clunky so there's signs of it being done by a real 3D artist. What COULD be generated is the 2D textures though which are applied to the 3D models (characters, furniture, environment, etc.).

I think the big issue here is the morality and integrity of using generative AI, since at the end of the day for ART specifically it is a theft machine (on top of the environmental issues). It also goes against the core principles of art (art is very intrinsically tied with humanity, take cave paintings for instance, it's a core fundamental of society that we use art to express ourselves/our stories and it isn't just the result of art that is the "art" it's the process and learning we've done to achieve that skill/result, it is the STORY behind it).

I hope that explains why this upsets so many people. I do disagree with insulting people who keep playing the game, but I do think we as players deserve much better than AI generated art for all the money we've contributed. Paying a 2D artist for projects like these would not cost much at all (as someone who has commissioned around 400-500 artworks myself). I'm glad they've at least disclosed it (though I feel like they did it for legal reasons).

The fact we got put on a hour long timer shows alot for what this community devolved into with one simple thing. Its like you guys forgot thay they said they are LOOKING into changing the puzzles to be real art during the first big AI spat that occurred awhile back.

Yes gen ai is bad, we all can agree on that, but attacking each other is just not ok. Instead of trying to destroy each other over clashing opinions, lets all agree to calm down, breath, take a step away from the device, and realize that at the end of the say, they will change it in time, they just NEED time to get it in the game, regardless of what IS AI in the game (which is only one portion of the game, one that you ONLY ever have to interact with once if you CHOOSE too interact with them at the end of the day)

Hate me all you want for this opinion but everyone turns into whining children at the mere mention of AI in any form, its clear AI has done more damage to your brain than you realize. If you wanna stop playing the game, go ahead, boycott the game, uninstall, whatever you wanna do to get some form of relief away from this, leave the discord etc etc. The point is that you are staying here TO perpetuate the argument and not solve the issue in a way that satisfies you. I agree with this. I’m aware that there are many talented artists, writers (me included) & content creators that are rightfully very upset about the recent announcement, and that this isn’t simply just “drama” but a real imminent problem.
But what we should really focus on rn is giving the game devs criticism, be harsh if you could, because remaining ignorant to this is somewhat the same as you using Gen AI, instead of fighting amongst ourselves and— yes, I’ve seen some ppl who does this— arguing with mods when they have no control over the game, simply the dc server.

Where do they say that they are 'looking' into replacing it? I'm genuinely curious. I've seen it thrown around here and there, but no actual, official statement from the Devs.

I genuinely love this game, and would love to continue playing, but rather than saying that they will stop/replace the gen AI image used, they said that they'll announce any other AI assisted content in advance, which really doesn't help it. And if they do continue/don't plan on replacing it, as people have said, then I'll be dropping it.
