Small bit off topic but, why is this the case? It feels like all it really does is punish new players for not knowing. Experienced players aren't typically going to care about the price difference and are also going to be the least impacted by that difference. Like a good example is the health scanner. One machine sells it for 950 and another sells it for 150. That's a decent chunk of the starting money for the same item.
I have been slowly documenting all vending machine inventories, which, yes, I do agree there are some repeats which make somewhat no sense.
Honestly the price multiplier is so people don't have to manually specify the price of every single item. As for why it's higher on that vend, I've no idea
I have not looked into it yet, but I would assume that each vendor takes the appraisal price of an item and multiplies it by X amount
