**SS14 account:** Dogitch

**Character name:** Icarus Moondancer

**Type of Note/Remark:** Severe remark

**Date of Note/Remark(cannot exceed 1 week old):** [2025-10-04] [4465].

**Reason for the note:** “Rule 1.1 & 1.3: As Station Representative, after a argument with NFSD, ordered a “Shitcurity” hitpiece about NFSD that they as SR signed off on. They then ordered their staff to distribute the hit piece across Frontier Outpost and Trade Mall.”

**Your side of the story:**
Apparently it’s too long please stand-by

**Why you think you should have the note reversed or edited:** I think my intentions were well placed but poorly executed. I should’ve proofread the article the reporter wrote first. That would have helped. I told him to make it a good hit piece but it was rather crude. I’m also in the wrong for deciding to continue on with my plans anyways.

**Extra Notes:** The main reason I’m writing this is to open up a dialogue in order to better learn from my mistakes. I do ultimately believe that generating engaging RP with as many people as possible is an important aspect of being a good player, but obviously I took it too far in this case. I guess what I’m interested in hearing, in a more specific way, what I should have done differently. The two choices presented seemed to be “Let the RP get canceled” or “Continue the RP from where it left off, so no one’s time was wasted”

My side:

I started the day and people were excited to see an SR as there was no sheriff or doc and only one Deputy. Okay cool. Reporter comes to my desk looking for work. I officially hire them and give them a payroll. They run along to go report. A couple hours pass and I’m informed that a deputy is currently drunk at FO. I have my guard apprehend the deputy. I tell my guard to leave them in the brig until they’ve sobered up, because I wasn’t going to reprimand them till then. I tell my guard that I was going to call the reporter in order to get ahead of any bad publicity. I inform the reporter of the situation and explain to them that I’d like him to spin the story in the NFSD’s favor. Make the article about how NFSD needs more funding for therapy and proper psych evals. Using the deputy as an example of how necessary this extra funding was. We even brought in a Therapist to hold an intervention. As I finish the call and return to the brig, I find a commotion. Suddenly I see the deputy being dragged off by another officer. I ask what they’re doing and they say something along the lines of “there’s a UIV. I need this deputy.” I ask “Can’t you just take my guard?” “No. You can’t stop me. You have no control over me. This is my responsibility now” this goes back and forth for a bit before I ultimately realize what’s happening. I’m arguing with NFSD about letting me do something that would benefit the NFSD. So what do I do? I pivot. Fine since you want to hijack the scenario and flat out just cancel the RP for everyone involved, I’m choosing to naturally continue the RP in a way that makes sense for my character, given what just transpired. I tell the reporter to write a good hitpiece about all of this instead. I turn him loose and wait for the ping. Now knowing how station news works, I know most people aren’t going to read it. I don’t want the reporters efforts to go to waste. So I copy it down and send it everywhere.

#

Then I have my guard distribute them because they had nothing better to do

I should state, I hold no actual ill-will towards Hecate, my actions were purely made from the standpoint of “Wtf do I do now? Just tell everyone RP’s done? Go home?”

“NFSD Stands for…

Non-Compliant Fucking Shitcurity Department.

This is Nunya D. Bidniss with… Shilling News. Our top story of the hour: an exposé on the criminally incompetent and malcontented behavior of the officers of the NFSD, and the shocking showdown that just took place aboard the Frontier Outpost.

I arrived on the scene with the showdown already in progress. To my shock and horror, there were already weapons drawn on the Frontier Outpost, a place that’s sacrosanct to all of us Frontiersmen. Even worse, those weapons were brandished—and even potentially raised—against our own SR.

Everyone knows by now of Deputy Bounty’s unfortunate relationship with alcohol and the Devil’s brew. Tragically, his alcoholism took a turn for the worse as the stress of his position mounted. The SR’s guard, Subarashi Briggs, was attempting to keep him under control while a Medical Responder and Therapist were called in to assist. Nolan Hartform, a spessman in good standing, had been speaking with the deputy when the NFSD’s new leader arrived.

Sergeant Valentine showed no respect for our respected SR, instead bluntly threatening them to the point of stating that they would simply cryo and return as Sheriff to overrule them entirely. The reason for this? They wanted Deputy Bounty to walk away from charges of conduct unbecoming and public intoxication.

Tragically, the situation eventually reached the point where the Secguard had to step in front of the SR to keep them safe from the threat of violence the NFSD projected—up to and including them threatening the first responder on site.

Now, as I write this, they have apparently nearly arrested another first responder for attempting to aid individuals in a UIV. Can we trust the NFSD under these people to serve the common weal and uphold the public trust?

I don’t think so. It’s up to you to decide what you think, readers.”

#

That’s the hitpiece that was made on my behalf, for context

#

I mean it’s kind of a catch-22 if the choices are “let them end our RP” or “AHelp it and end the RP”. Sorry if that seems bitter, I’m not trying to be, just being honest with my feelings

slow cypress
#

Especially since an ahelp would have likely just resulted in “RP it out IC” which wouldn’t have really worked since the RP was just… Hijacked. It wouldn’t solve the issue that the ahelp would have been about. I mean this as in I really don’t think there was any other alternative but to RP it out, but I didn’t think of an appropriate response in the moment other than just flipping the script since it was already flipped on me. Made the most sense from a story telling perspective.

But yes, a helping would have given a paper trail, but my options were ahelp or continue, so I continued

True I was a bit vague. Ig I don’t know whether I should contest it or not which is why I mostly wanna just talk through what happened

craggy bough
#

this is if you want to contest the note.

slow cypress
#

What’s the best way I can send this info over to a ticket then?

craggy bough
#

thats prett ymuch it

#

are you not contesting the note?

slow cypress
#

Are there any repercussions for doing so? If I can freely contest without any kind of threat of escalating this to something worse, so long as things stay cordial, I don’t see any issue with contesting

#

Might as well contest here then take it to a ticket, if the outcome is no, for further discussion if it’s necessary

slow cypress
#

Someone else involved had mentioned that it may also be a bad precedent to set for NFSD. As in, joining as sergeant then boldly declaring that they’ll just switch to Sheriff to override me

We will never punish someone further for contesting a note unless they crash out and start disrespecting people, using slurs, or so on, the usual internet conversation faux pas; or if we find something during our investigation that's much worse than the incident in question; for instance, if I looked into this and found out that the admin missed you saying racist slurs in our logs. The worst thing we will do is inform them someone that the punishment they recieved was lighter than normal, and that they should consider themselves lucky. By all means, contest it if you wish, it won't be held against you in any way.

#

If you intend to contest this, I'll take your appeal. I'll get to reading what happened.

Yep I will be, thank you!

Right, so having reviewed everything, you were fine for most of that interaction except up until you decided to turn the article into a hit piece, and get FO staff to spread it around to other stations. Using command resources to both commission and then spread that hit piece throughout the sector is an abuse of power that breaks Rule 1.1 DBAD and Rule 13 Command Standards, and it's not behavior that we want coming from command staff. You're supposed to be working together, even if someone on the other side of the equation is being difficult as was the case here, and while it is unfortunate that someone disrupted the flow of things, that reaction was rather extreme. Remember, reports like this damage not just the reputation of the people in NFSD today, but can potentially impact the entire department across the entire server, sometimes for an extended period of time. What would a new player think, reading an article like that when they first join the server? What would their expectations become?

Because of this, the appeal is going to be denied. As was previously discussed, you're free to open a ticket to talk about the incident in more detail!
