Any tips how I can learn building like this?

Some things that have helped me quite a bit is 1. ezedits (especially pointlight feature) - this is a plugin on some building servers that helps a lot with getting the initial coloring right (where highlights are and where shadows are) 2. getting axiom for shaping - start with basic geometric shapes to get the proportions right e.g. oval shape for the body, tubes for legs etc. 3. get a reference picture to control your shape/coloring 4. for coloring using shadows that e.g. shaders give helps me to get darker sports right

And just start with something. from my experience I can promise you it wont look good but if you keep trying you will improve 🙂
