Sonic 1 boots on Arkos 353m "eventually". No sound and no analog anymore. Buttons are super jacked up. X seems to pause or freeze.

twilit yew
#

BROKEN :V
Jokes aside, I need to check what better the GitHub repo tomorrow

#

Probably I can find some inspiration

twilit yew
#

@covert bison technically the same zip, but whatever, you can use the same zip for both

#

but as i said, it's something i'll check soon, that i suppose it's probably something stupid

#

feel free to play with the files obv

How do I access the mods menu on the RGB30? I have DevMenu set to true in the settings. Do I also need EngineDebugMenu also set to true?

twilit yew
#

i suppose

covert bison
#

Added new zip, threw in the menu recreation mod, and it works flawlessly.

#

On 351.

#

Dunno where the crashes Mad posted about come from.

#

Sonic 2 has no display but has audio.

#

And it was a dumb issue, in Sonic 1 the gptk is named 'soni2013.gptk', and in Sonic 2 it's named 'sonic2013.gptk'. I took out the c and it works. @twilit yew

#

Oh I checked the sh and it's supposed to be sonic2013.gptk. Odd that the game displays fine without using it. I changed it back and the game still displays and plays ok now. I confused myself here.

twilit yew
#

Nice then

covert bison
#

I cannot activate the dev menu with gptk enabled

#

Not sure gptk is even needed tho

twilit yew
#

Last time I had little time to try, but better knowing they works

twilit yew
covert bison
#

Yeah I would ditch gptk entirely for these two. Even changing it to back = esc" doesn't work.

covert bison
#

Welp

#

Maybe if I would remove the " too lmao

#

It works.

twilit yew
#

Indeed I was a bit confused lol

covert bison
#

So you just need to add explicit gptk controls and you should be set.

twilit yew
#

Probably lol

covert bison
#

But I would maybe include the menu recreation mod so it loads to something more visual for end users.

twilit yew
#

Btw the gptk maybe was for l3

#

That open the mod menu

#

At least in CD as I said

covert bison
#

Yeah l3 opens it in cd

twilit yew
#

After work I play a bit on the games then

covert bison
#

In that case it's just a matter of instructions/readme

twilit yew
#

Thx for the testing

covert bison
#

I want to figure out why sonic 2 had no display from the zip

#

If I disable menu recreation mod it goes back to blank screen until I press l3

twilit yew
#

The launcher is the same

#

So definitely a funny error lol

covert bison
#

Including menu rec mod enabled by default just bypasses it then.

stark dawn
#

I got mods to work. I just used the files in the original post instead of the Portmaster ones.

twilit yew
#

So yeah (?)

#

This one seemed broken at first but after further investigations are fine

#

I'm just waiting for the pm repo to update

stark dawn
#

I've paired up the menu recreations mods with the Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute mods, though if I can get the menus for the latter to show up then maybe I won't need the menu recreation mods.

#

Too bad S3AIR hasn't been ported, since then I'd just need to find the Sonic CD and Knuckles mod (got privated) and I'd have the best possible versions of the 16-bit-era Sonic games.

covert bison
#

I looked at air

#

#💡|porting-talk message

#

Not sure how challenging it would be

#

I know someone got it running on a Pi 4

stark dawn
#

It'd definitely (probably) be easier than porting the Origins version of Sonic 3K.

covert bison
#

Origins 3K can potentially be ported without sound. Origins runs on two engines. Rsdk controls the games and Hedgehog controls the music and sound.

@errant quarry hrmmmm

#

does this one work?

twilit yew
#

It has been tested

#

So should

errant quarry
#

I already figured out the Menu Recreation mod workaround, funnily enough, but it doesn't show any settings for Sonic Forever so I'm kinda iffy on it.

#

also, doesn't feel like a proper port if it needs a third party mod to work.

That’s true! And it’s really cool that we have the workaround at all.
