I thought with the way they were announcing their updates they did get the tools as they were talking about the backend and things might get broken for a time. Maybe I'm wrong though.

The backend means a lot of things, but when they've talked about that, they've been mainly talking about stuff like the storefronts and the website. Also, that last comment was from about two months ago when the last they had told us, they specified that they didn't have the dev tools yet. Even though it doesn't have a specific Switch 2 upgrade, the Switch 2 recently added a handheld boost mode that seems to improve the resolution a bit, at least.
