Z toggle the free camera mode
you can then use the mouse to look around and WASD to move

you can also use Ctrl+E to snap your '2d view' to your current selection
and ctrl + shift + e to snap your 3d view to your selection

I don’t see a platform or anything that I created is just pitch black is there something wrong with hammer itself?

Ah your 3d view is in wireframe mode per default probably
You can see a word called caméra, in the top left corner of the 3d view, if you click it, you can change the mode

To see the brush itself in the 2d views

if you press Shift to can add another camera in the 2d grid window next to the brush making it easy to find it
