https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3367161582&searchtext=Character+expansion would like to make a version of this mod that only has changes from HLA or the HL2 beta however I never used Hammer Plus Plus before nor have I used regular Hammer so I would like some help with adding only the HLA and HL2 beta changes to the regular maps (except for the ones that don't make sense like the workers attacking the refugees at the beginning of Canals 1) and also adding compatibility with the Breen cast reverb mod

this character addon is just new models and materials , extract the models and materials to the mods folder and if it asks to overwrite models materials already in there allow it then when you play the mod the npc models will be replace with the ones from the addon that use the same name and you don't need to edit anything in hammer
It edits the maps to get the new models to load
If the models have the same names as the default ones you don't need to edit the map
Won't that replace all models
It wouldn't make sense to fight a Construction Strider
you just change the models you want changed
I don't want to replace every instance of a model with a different model that would create contradictions just certain models in certain maps
what maps ? can you get the vmf for them ? if you can't you'll have to decomple the bsp back to a vmf then open the entity report in hammer and find the list of npc you want to change the model to, then extract the model from the addon to your models folder , then when you play the map the npc is using the new model you put in the models folder
Get the vmf ok I'll ask the author to dm me the map sources
And then decompile the vmfs I would like to use from the recent update
vmf's open in hammer there nothing to decompile its bsp you decompile if you can't get the vmf
Yeah that's what I meant lol
if you want hl2 vmf's you can get them from here https://github.com/Gedat/HL2Leak-VMFs
I heard they changed the maps of the base game in a recent update
yeah there all game play related nothing to do with maps , like the sequence for gman thats a scripted sequence used in the map textures and other things are shaders
the fences and fixed models
wondering why the old maps folder was only 777 megabytes now while the new one is a single gigabyte
I guess the same for the smoke in ravenholm? and the background audio in the title screen for point insertion?
