hammer can't load bsp files it works with vmf files, decompiling a bsp is bad because it creates errors in the vmf it produces so you'd to at least have a bit of mapping knowledge to fix them, decompiling a bsp that was made by someone else is wrong and will usually have other mappers not help you out, if your given permission to edit some one else's map you should ask for the vmf , if they don't have it and you have to decompile the bsp again usually mappers won't help you because they know when you fix 1 error another will pop up andso on ,, if you want to learn mapping so you can at least fix the errors your self read the gtting start section here https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Level_Design then read and watch video tutorials from here https://www.tophattwaffle.com/tutorials/
