#Lighting appearing as a grid in game

This suddenly started appearing while i was working on my map and worked fine previously, I'm not quite sure what i changed to have this happen but i haven't been able to get rid of it since.

I've tried googling this and searching for it in here but I've been unable to find anyone else having the same issue

The lighting preview in hammer shows it correctly

that looks like a missing detail texture actually

Is there any way to see what it may be? I don't have a lot in my map right now.

One thing i did notice is that ever since it started happening i have a specific brush that doesn't show up in game

#

Although removing it doesn't solve the issue
I've tried removing every single thing on my map except a single light environment and brush, no luck

this is an issue external to Hammer

#

it's the textures you're using

It was working perfectly fine before though... :v

cinder compass

did you mess with the files at all

north glade
#

Nope

cinder compass
#

does the console say anything

north glade
#

No errors

#

And the same texture on another map seems to work fine

cinder compass
#

it's possible this is some kind of bizzare cubemap issue

#

try deleting the BSP and recompiling

north glade

No luck unfortunately

#

It really does seem like a game issue but it happened suddenly from one map compilation to another

#

I've tried reinstalling all my custom textures and verifying files

cinder compass
#

it has to be a custom texture related issue

#

surely it won't happen if you use a base game texture

#

it could very well be missing a detail texture, but it's only apparent in some maps

#

because I know for a fact that specific issue is less noticeable in Hammer

Yup was definitely a texture issue, completely switching everything to another texture worked

#

Just really confused on why it worked fine earlier :(

what was the vmt of the texture like? Its almost definitely a missing bumpmap, envmap or smth similar

check the path that both textures reside in

#

remember in vmt’s all paths are relative to the main mat folder

north glade
#

that is absolutely why!

this is what i downloaded the texture as, so i'm confused as to why it even worked earlier
