Sound files for gmod in hammer++

Hello im trying to find where i can put custom sounds into my map for gmod. do i need to make a sound folder?

i added a sounds folder to my gmod folder but it still wont show up in the ambient generic sound list

folder should be named sound, not sounds as i remember
