#Error with models from a map
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it says what the cause is
in your map
you have a prop
like a prop_static in the background there
that doesn't have a model assigned to it
and how can i assign it?
what do you mean how can you assign it
either give it a prop if you want it to be a prop or delete it
I put a prop static down, then select one of the models, then compile and I get this
the model you used can't be a prop static then
Alright, studio model error is gone
Now this
For any of these models
(They worked up until some point)
you have to decompile and recompile the model its missing a required file
And what could cause this? It worked up until some point
Can I do this with a crap ton a of models at once?
Well not a crap ton
goto this folder and see if the vvd file is there if its not then some how it got deleted , reinstall the models or recompile themodel so you get the files it requires
yes crowbar can batch decompile and recompile
Would you be up to teach me this painful process of decompiling and recompling?
I have crowbar
I just do not know how to use it
I avoid crowbar, I find it so difficult
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=791755353 its not hard it'll tell you how to use it here
I believe I decompiled them
Just crowbar made a gmod folder on a different drive
and won't let me select the correct gmod folder
to compile
@dusky acorn
Does that not look right?
Well I managed to put the correct path in
but it says the files dont exist, and theyre not there either
idk what to do
@snow anvil could you give me a hand?
My issue seems to be I am missing the gameinfo.txt and studiomdl.exe from GarrysMod/garrysmod and GarrysMod/bin
please explain to an imbecile like me
your library path is fucked
erum
@snow anvil so now I have the compiled models files. Am I deleting every original file (replied message) and putting the new files in?
Oh wait, did it do it automatically or am I tripping?
i have no idea I'm not really paying much attention
alright so
These are the recompiled models
okay
Still giving the same error. I deleted the old ones in hopes of fixing that.
I don't really have time to explain what you're doing wrong right now
. . .
Can I ask when you will be able to? Is it going to be tomorrow?
i dunno I'm working
ahh no worries
Can you see the issue ? Will I be able to fix this error once and for all ?
instead of recompile every model just select the one that gives you the error, and see if theres an error when its recompiled
in crowbar find the .qc for this model and just compile that then check the compile log in crowbar and see if it finished ok, if it did look in the model folder for the model and see if it has the .vvd file then recompile the map
But there is like 40 models
It is the same for all of them
I can't do this individually
so its all the models in the ares folder
change this path so the compiled models are put in the ares1 folder
Why exactly can't I change it?
you can but then you have to change the path to it in the prop entity because there put in a new folder
Sorry I am confused, have patience for a half-wit like me
What do you mean change the path for the prop entity? Where can I find that?
the path you have there will compile the models and put them in the models folder, if you look in the models folder the models are most prob there and not in models/ares1 folder so you have to set the model in the prop entity to where the new models were output to
if you change the path to models/ares1 they will be put in there
if you still get a problem i would delete the models from gmod and download them again
its suppose to output to ares, but I didnt want them overlapping incase that caused issues
so can I just have it output to ares where the old models are?
will it replace them
Also, my issue is I can't change the output
I will change it to models/ares where it should be if you can confirm it overlapping with the old models is okay
@dusky acorn
I just changed the option to work folder so I could edit it
I'm putting them where the old models are
Good news!
I compiled there and I didn't get the error!
However I am currently using GMOD so I can't test
