#'Encountered an improper argument' while opening ANY map in hammer

So, this is the first time I encounter that type of a problem, normal hammer, (any source game) suddenly stopped working, whenever I try to open a map, this message appears, or when I try to make new map and then save it. When it comes to h++, it only shows the "select game configuration", when you click ok, it just.. doesn't open, at all.
This might be caused by the fact that I have been messing around with windows 10 privacy settings to reduce the amount of spyware..

Maybe that was foolish, but I watched this video: || https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgW7iXejfqQ ||, although I didn't follow it entirely
Parts which I skipped in the video

0:23 - 3:37
5:28 - 7:30 + (ultra performance thing)
The rest I did the same as in the video, but before doing anything he said, I've read any info I could to prevent any problems (and yet here we are)
Anything that the video showed didn't seem like it'd break hammer, but for some reason, it did anyway.. The tool that's being shown at the end of the video most likely didn't break hammer,
since my friend is using that tool too and he had no problems with it

Maybe I'm missing something obvious? No idea
What I did to try fixing this issue:

reinstalling the same version of hammer++
installing older version of hammer
validating game files (hl2 mp)
validating pretty much any game files in any -source game
trying to reverse the changes in the "ShutUp10!" program (the one from the vid)
reinstalling the game (hl2) itself
reversing the changes made in the vid that -somewhat could break hammer

I don't think there's more to add, I hope there's an easy fix for this

hammer++ itself should be independant from the regedit preferences though

welp, it found corrupted files and repaired them, but hammer is still broken
i guess theres no fix for this apart from formatting

okay, APPARENTLY it IS possible to open a map and save it in normal hammer, the only thing i have to do is try opening the map twice, same with saving it, although h++ still doesnt want to open at all
this shit gets weirder and weirder
