#Some sprites not showing in-game.

I have 4 sprites in my map, 3 with the same properties and the same sprite material, the only thing being different from each of them is the scale and the name. For some reason, two of them just don't want to appear. I tried to check the console for any errors and there was nothing relevant. Only one of the "ambient_generic" sprites show up in the game, and changing the properties of these two to match exactly this one doesn't work. Making them Start On, adding a ShowSprite output for them... even changing the sprite material doesn't work! I've digged into their properties and analyzed both of them and there's nothing wrong with them, they should be working just like the rest. I have no idea what's going on, and if someone can think of a solution, please tell me.

#

I also checked their vmts, and again, nothing off. And in the Sprite Name part, it has a .vmt at the end, so it can't be that.

You mentioned they all have the same properties but what render mode are they running with?

#

And could you show the vmts you mentioned just incase?

rocky granite
#

(Texture)

#

I've also tried other render modes, didnt work

#

I'll send the vmts in a second

#

Okay, I can't send the file... but this is the vmt of the 3 sprites
"Sprite" { "$spriteorientation" "vp_parallel" "$spriteorigin" "[ 0.50 0.50 ]" "$basetexture" "workshopremaster/ambient_generic" "srgb?$alpha" ".5" }

Uhh, ambient generic spites are not supposed to show up?

#

They are hammer only?

rocky granite
#

the ambient_generic sprite can work just like a normal sprite in the game, and I've copied it to the directory of my map's assets just for it to be easier to pack all the assets together

#

and also lightly modified the vmt hoping to get this issue fixed

#

it didn't really help

#

I've also checked the vtf of the material, it uses one-bit alpha, but I don't think this has anything to do with what's happening

#

like I said, I also tried to change the sprite to a different one rather than the ambient_generic, but that didn't work

What is the sprite properties?

(you can just send us a fully expanded screenshot of the editor properties panel)

wait

#

oh shit, I think I've found the answer

rotund crest
#

It's just easier than asking you to repipe everything that might come up as a question

rocky granite
#

I have no idea how this happened what the hell

rotund crest
#

If you find out what the problem is, be sure to post it here for posterity and mark your post solved

rocky granite
#

okay

#

so, you know when you use the mouse scroll on the field of one of the properties to select an entity?

#

like, in the parent section, you move your mouse to the text thing and scroll down

#

and an entity that is on top of the alphabetical order is selected?

rotund crest
#

Accidentally changed the entity class?

rocky granite
#

not the class, I changed its parent to a tracktrain, lol

rotund crest
#

Oh so it was taking a ride around the map

#

Hahaha

rocky granite
#

yeah

rotund crest
#

Blessed

rocky granite
#

lmao

#

yeah, I guess this solves the case, but just in case, I'll compile the map and see

#

if that was really it

#

because it could've just happened right now

rotund crest
#

🤞

rocky granite
#

lol, it works now

#

thanks a lot
