#All benefits on for weekend

yeah let us choose a benefit per character when we log in
That works too, you login to the world and it gives you a pop up option of all the benefits and you can only choose one and maybe it gives a “are you sure?” Before confirming
They’ ve been doing double pet XP wayyy too much. Need zero energy fishing
But ofc that doesn’t pay
heck, just give use a loyalty token reward for choose a benefit atleast
Hmm. This could make sense. After all, there are opportunity costs to consider...
Maybe a once a month option to select a member benefit to use account wide for a 3-7 day timeframe independent of the regular ongoing membership benefits?
This could allow more choice in what someone specifically is interested in while still allowing fate to roll the dice on the regular active membership benefit(s).
I really really think it should just be on a set cycle... even if we're suppoesd to be getting fishing rarely, not knowing what benefits youll be getting the next month of your subscription feels very dishonest
Unfortunately, this is never going to happen because then players will just stop participating in side events unless that benefit is active.
In every case where that's relevant, having the benefit is a reason to even consider the doing activity; not the reverse
Depends on which benefit though. Double Pet XP, most definitely but that's the most frequent member benefit. Gardening, Fishing, Crafting, are all side activities that players don't usually have the luxury of waiting for the member benefit before they participate in them.
Gardening and crafting definitely aren't things that would just not be done without the benefit (though gardening admittedly might get staggered a bit), and fishing is nowhere near rewarding/ important enough to do without the benefit in most cases
If a normal player is trying to craft gear, then they certainly aren't going to wait for the crafting benefit to appear in order to do. There gonna craft the gear as soon as possible because they need it. Same with gardening. Players can't really build a supply of mega snacks if they only harvest their garden once every 3 months, when a double gardening benefit appears. They're going to harvest their plants every week instead. If a player wants to fish for rare items, there going to need the buoy chest spell, which requires completing the entire fishing questline in the game. So, they're not just gonna wait for a fishing benefit in order to complete that questline. They're gonna complete it beforehand, so when that benefit does arrive, they have as much time as possible to utilize it.
Your additions about gardening and crafting support my point about people not waiting for those benefits to do the activity, not your point
And the fishing chest exclusive items may be rare, but I've never heard of any of them being actually good enough to warrant the effort you're talking about
Could you elaborate more? What incentive is there for a player to wait until a gardening benefit to harvest their plants, when they can harvest their plants on a regular basis and obtain more rewards from that? Same with crafting. Not all gear sets require exclusive reagents Like seen with Arc 4 gear and beyond. Their is no incentive for someone to wait for a crafting benefit, just to craft gear that requires easily obtainable reagents?
As for fishing, I'm surprised you haven't heard of people fishing for permanent mounts, bundle gear, code wands etc? It's quite a popular thing that definitely warrants the effort.
Did you forget who was making what argument? You were the one saying that people would just wait until the relevant benefit to do crafting or gardening, now you're asking me why that would be the case? Make it make sense
I think you misinterpreted my point. I said having an all benefits weekend means people would wait for the relevant benefit before playing in a certain side activity.
My point is that players should be participating in a side activity because they need/want to, not because an event for double rewards for that activity is happening.
And then you followed up by saying having the benefit is part of the only reason of participating in these activities.
I think you misinterpreted my point. I said having an all benefits weekend means people would wait for the relevant benefit before playing in a certain side activity.
If they're ALL on, what are they waiting for, unless they're pulling a ToonTown's Silly Saturdays and cycling all the benefits every few hours that day/those days?
"Why would I harvest my garden today, which is a Monday, when I could just harvest it on the weekend, when the double gardening benefit is active?"
So if all the benefits were on during the weekend, then players would wait until the weekend to engage in activities. Nobody would be fishing, crafting, gardening on any day other than the weekend.
Fishing I get, but gardening and crafting I doubt
Perhaps. Though I could imagine an "all benefits weekend" would influence some players. However, engagement in some benefits would definitely be changed, such as double scroll of fortune points, double monstrology, double pet xp, etc.
double player xp would be funny
"Gardening and crafting definitely aren't things that would just not be done without the benefit (though gardening admittedly might get staggered a bit), and fishing is nowhere near rewarding/ important enough to do without the benefit in most cases"
This is literally what I said. Idk where you're getting that I'm dumb enough to think crafting and gardening are currently not worth doing without the benefit, but that couldn't be much further from what i said
Just trying to have some conversation here, nobody is trying to call you "dumb" here or trying to imply that. I was just referring to when you said this " having the benefit is a reason to even consider the doing activity; not the reverse"
And I specified activities that doesn't apply to, yet you acted like i said those were the ones I meant. Stop skimming, and read the whole thing
I promise I'm not trying to act or imply anything about what you said. I have just been confused since your initial reply. That's all. It's just a simple conversations. Checking back just to make sure, I believe the only activity you said that is not worth doing without the benefit is fishing.
In toontown they have a system where the players vote on which benefit will be active from a poll of 3 options. They should do something like that where they allow people to vote every week and then just apply the one that got the most votes.
Cue all 3 options being the least popular like it is in TTR, too xD But hey, that would still ensure variety somewhere
honestly doing it like on holidays only would be nice still
