This cantrip is the only one of its kind that specifically will do damage or buff to a specific school, which happens to make them inconvenient for use in combats where a fire would benefit from having them. In the case of daemon, its a trap fight but if you use fiery explosion to setup cyclops or a scion then it will clear any traps that have been setup by the fire wizards, which contradicts the whole point of having the cantrip in the first place.

Maybe make it Shadow damage? Shadow blades/traps are rare and DoTs for it already exist. (extra nonsense with Hematites is a nice bonus too.)

Easy solution is to make the DOT chromatic damage that attaches to the school of the casting wiz. Or make it a universal school no one is dominant in like
