We already lived through a plague

Covid 19 all over again šŸ’”

#

i just think definitively that a plague is the scariest or at least the most deadly bc it can last for years

noble cosmos

If magma chunks hits me i'm dead

You cant really isolate and run away from an Earthquake

lilac sparrow
paper flame
sharp geyser
#

At least with plagues with modern technology it probably wouldn’t last too too long before we found a cure

noble cosmos
#

It lasted long cause people didnt wanna isolate or wear masks crustySobbing

sharp geyser
#

EF-5 tornado would be the scariest if you didn’t have the right shelter

paper flame
thick raven
#

a lot of these can be collateral as well; earthquakes bring tsunamis + can destroy major major infrastructure

noble cosmos
thick raven
#

i think the scarier options though are the sudden and unpredictable ones too; not being able to prepare or know its coming is even more frightening somehow

paper flame
#

yeah torando is scarier than a hurricane just because u can (hopefully) evacuate in the event its coming

Book of Secrets (page 3)

#

forgor to name the thread teehee

sharp geyser
#

Tornado wind speeds have gotten to over 300mph

thick raven
#

the worst/best example of tornados being terrifying is just about everything to do with the 2011 outbreak (particularly Joplin)

frank obsidian
#

I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole on YouTube watching tornado videos and the Joplin one looked a proper nightmare

sharp geyser
#

Yeah definitely and the 2013 el Reno tornado, even if it was mostly in rural areas

sharp geyser
#

Another nightmare tornado is the bridge creek Moore tornado which got to 315+ miles per hour wind speeds

thick raven
#

it's also somewhat terrifying that we've gone so long without an ef5 tornado like.. it feels like the world is charging its punch up

thick raven
paper flame
#

slow moving tornados and hurricanes are def a menace

wet talon
#

Having live in SEA i'm not scared of typoons much but living through a volcanic eruption sounds horrific

sharp geyser
sharp geyser
thick raven
#

which for anyone reading: NEVER DO THAT

sharp geyser
#

I haven’t watched the documentary on that tornado in a bit

thick raven
#

you would be better off literally jumping in a ditch than hiding in an underpass

wet talon
#

good to know

sharp geyser
#

Yeah don’t do that it’s a lot more dangerous because the winds are channeled through and then they get a lot stronger

wet talon
#

I never lived through a tornado so Idk what to do

#

my reigon doesnt ever get them

sharp geyser
#

Basically just get in a basement if you can and if your driving don’t try to outrun it just try to get to shelter as best as you can

wet talon
#

Thank you, now I know

sharp geyser
#

Np I’ve always been very interested in tornadoes lol

wet talon
#

lol. Honestly the worse I ever been through is Monsoons

#

but those are a dime a dozen

sharp geyser
#

I’ve never been through one but I’ve been through a bunch of blizzards

wet talon
#

I experienced my first blizzard

#

it was recent and I was so confused

wet talon
#

That was the first time I tried out snow, it was insane

thick raven
#

the bridge creek underpass has a very tragic story that can still be visibly seen after nearly 30 years

sharp geyser
#

Yeah

#

There are still cuts in the ground where the tornado went through

thick raven
#

basically this kid lost his mom because his mom sacrificed herself; the tornado kicked up so much dirt and mud that he wrote in it, and bc its so caked and dried, it's still visible

sharp geyser
#

She’s a hero ā¤ļø

slow sinew
#

Tornado in 4th place is wild

chrome magnet
#

A volcanic eruption could cause a plague if it's big enough and could cause many of these diesasters

halcyon bluff
#

very strange that the scale of the blizzard, hurricane, eruption and plague were not quantified at all

#

actually plague I guess needs no elaboration

#

but volcanic eruption could be completely non threatening to earthquake-inducing, weather-changing, humanity-wiping

spice lance
#

Plagues are terrifying! With the others, you know what’s gonna happen. But plagues, you don’t know if you will get infected or not

covert depot
#

Tornadoes being that low when we see what damage an E5 can do in the Reno tornado

abstract ivy

Anyone not saying magnitude 9+ earthquake doesn’t understand how life change and even society changing an earthquake of that size would be

leaden fractal
#

tbh all of them (imo)

#

I never wanna experience any of these

flint veldt
# abstract ivy Anyone not saying magnitude 9+ earthquake doesn’t understand how life change and...

While you aren’t wrong, there’s something so uniquely devastating about the fact that a single supervolcanic eruption can plunge the entire earth into a devastating years-long winter in which no one can see the sun. One eruption from Mount Toba bottlenecked the human population by killing roughly 90% of all human life on earth and almost led to our extinction.

And even if we’re talking about a standard volcanic eruption, the pyroclastic flow can just wipe towns off the map. There’s no getting out of a building or surviving under the rubble. If you’re in the path of that horrifying 1500 degree death cascade, you aren’t leaving. Outside of the flow, the toxic gasses can still condemn the surrounding population to die via slow suffocation.

In essence, I’m not saying that choosing earthquake is WRONG here, but that volcano isn’t an incorrect option either. It definitely earned its place lol

I think in my brain if we're talking 9+ mag I'm comparing it to some pretty nasty stuff from the other categories too

#

like EF5 torn? yoooo that's not something i mess with LOL

I mean, I’ve lived through a hurricane and a plague. Tornadoes scare the bejeesus out of me; we had one near our house last night.
