#Spell Suggestion Thread

Ooh another spells concept thread
Backfire: a 1-pip spell to deal 35% of a spell, I like the concept on paper, but in practice it seems more annoying than useful
Damage Diffusion: I don't see a good use case of this spell, also would it function as a ward or an aura
Invertigo Zone: Now this sounds fun and what would balance be converted to it?
Invertigo: Same as above, sounds fun but not terribly useful
- Now if it was converting incoming damage, then that would actually be useful as a way to counter school traps
Minion: Compel X: Don't think a spell is the best way to do this
Concave Demolition: is this just the Lore Master A utility for free on all enemies
Dust Storm: Why?
Reprieve: That could definitely serve some niche use
For Damage Diffusion, would that be a select target? Otherwise wouldn't that just be basically like Shadow Sentinel just without a tank to absorb it?
and Invertigo what does "opposite school" mean, I assume you mean it to work like a universal prism but what about in advanced content where "opposite" means something different.
Damage Diffusion looks like the opposite of Shadow Sentinel
Ya damage diffusion would just be like, spread the damage out to all your allies. Good for big single target attacks maybe. Idk about shadow sentinel the phrasing doesn't make sense to me ngl lol
Invertigo is just a super prism, yeah. Invertigo zone is a field prism. Balance would just stay balance but that's always been their advantage
Damage diffusion could be select target I like that idea
But if you're just referring to the new selenopolis triangle thing, this only meant to help as long as prisms would
(Had to fix the symbol)
trick of fate is broken
That doesnt fix a broken spell, people would just run 45% death accuracy to use it and invalidate any fight
Summer reads extend DOT on self for 2 turns which is actively detrimental
Same total damage
500 hp over 3 turns v 500 hp over 5 turns, you take less damage per turn
Pros:
- ?
Cons: - Makes it easier for enemy to set up gambits
- Waste your entire turn casting it
- Breaks more shields
Well it's zero pips, it's not a huge boon. But if you're taking big damage over time and need to buy a couple turns..
Also, setting up your own clears
just like an ice serpent's higher damage than an ice beetle lol but they're both important spells
???
he showed me a triage that removes dot to say why simmer that extends it would be obsolete. the point is, just because something else is more powerful doesn't mean less powerful effects aren't helpful
strategy
Mass Recycle should definitely cost at least 1 pip, maybe 2.
ooh fair
as for Avalanche and Body Reinforcement, I'm not sure they fit in Wizard101
how so? avalanche is just damage.. the thought with body reinforcement is to make it so that you can heal higher
the game relies a lot on one-use damage buffs, while Avalanche is a spell that needs to be used multiple times over and over.
Yea but one just removes the hanging effect entirely and the other sets you up to lose more than it helps
Something something over dpp
^
Body Reinforcement, kinda makes sense, though I don't think it'd be useful as opposed to just healing outright.
I assure you straight up removing a dot is more effective than keeping it around to set up a clear
If the enemy gets a gambit off because you were messing around and just keeping dots on yourself you're probably in a way worse position than if you just removed the dot to begin with
so maybe you're in a battle with a few others, and they're setting up for a big bartleby. you pop a body reinforcement, bartleby heals you well past your normal max, and then a boss hits you with a big chungus attack
or just shield?
maybe 🤷♂️ that's strategy
The strategy is not putting a spell in your deck that helps the enemy 😭
to make sure I understand Applied Friction, if I were to use Lightning Bats, it'd come with a 90 fire or storm DoT attached? how long is the DoT? Can multiple spawn, or is it only one?
wait, the card art is AI generated?
yep you're right. it'd be just one or the other, fire or lightning. i'll fix it, should be three turns
i can't draw to save my life lol
I mean, I'd prefer you make a poorly made doodle over AI generated art.
no you wouldn't trust me lol
I mean, here are examples I did of poorly done colored doodles
you can still try? And even if you can't, I originally just found whatever looked close on the spellmaker.
Could make damage diffusion an ice school spell that takes X% damage from party and applies it to you instead? Could help tankier builds be more viable. Would be like shadow intercept but better
