Training Point Refund Bug with Scarab and Scorpion

I got on today to mess with my training points, and noticed whenever i upgraded scorpion, and then refunded what i had. it would for some reason force sacrab to be apart of the non refundable spells which are upgraded, despite scarab not being upgraded at all.

I'm really confused by this. because i thought only spells that are upgraded cannot be refunded

I think that this is intentional. Scarab is a prerequisite in order to train Scorpion, so you would have to unlearn Scorpion to unlearn Scarab. Since you cannot unlearn Scorpion due to it being upgraded, you similarly won't be able to get a refund for Scarab

if it was intentional, i would not be able to do this with spells like tower shield or feint

however i am for some reason

What ice and death spells do you have upgraded? I only see Evil Snowman and Vampire, both of which are trained before Tower Shield and Feint respectively. So unlearning Tower/Feint would not be a problem here.

But for your Balance spells, your upgraded spell is learned after Scarab

But then surely Frost Beetle, Snow Serpent, Dark Sprite, Ghoul, and Banshee should also be on the list?

They should, not sure why they aren't. Could be a maximum list size

If the issue is that Scarab was lumped in with the spells that specifically couldn't be refunded because they were upgraded, then yeah that's a bug alright. The notice does say that it's listing spells that have been upgraded

yea but why make an exception for scarab of all spells to be excluded?

im more than likely going to guess this is a bug. because if it truly is intended, it would've been known by now

i had tested via other spells upgraded, the list did not really matter

i was trying to utilize my points then i ran into the bug

i could only ever refund scarab if i reset scorpion

which was not the case that happened with any other school i tried training to get xyz spells

so you were able to refund Frost Beetle and Snow Serpent despite Evil Snowman being upgraded?

Thats how it is for me and my storm spells. It allows me to reset every other storm spell except triton which is upgraded with spellements.

Yes. why would this not be allowed?

There's no real reason i could see for why Scarab is the exception. it def must be an oversight, hopefully just that and not a bug

Since you're required to train Frost Beetle and Snow Serpent (and Volcanic Shield but I forgot that earlier ) before you can learn Evil Snowman, Evil Snowman effectively costs four training points. Training points are finite and the game was designed around stronger spells requiring more training points by having more prerequisite spells. If you can learn those four spells, then upgrade Evil Snowman and buyback the other three, you'd be reducing that cost down to a single training point. For this to be a bug in the way you're describing, Evil Snowman would have to have no other spells trained before you could train it. If anything, I think that the bug is that you are in fact allowed to unlearn those prerequisite spells without unlearning the spells that were upgraded with Spellements

Now i don't know exactly how long this mechanic has been around, so i'm just stretching that

But i also don't really see any harm, because you can't do it to every spell

certain spells that do not have any sort of path, don't work

It's been known forever even ferric made a video on it while back has tons of views I don't think they have any plans on fixing it soon

But it had like 30 or 40k views

He did state in the video he made this video to get word out to kingsisle so it could get patched If I recall but it seems like they do not care

Kingsisle would of fixed this long time ago if they thought it was worth patching

It's also not hurting anyone by letting people save some training points either

Allows people to be more free and dual school or create unique pvp / pve strategies
