Greetings.

I have noticed what seems to be a weird bug with the item Astral spell called Reinforce (https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/ItemCard:Reinforce for reference), obtained from the pet talent with the same name.

The card states that it spplies a +40% Outgoing Damage and -40% Resistance Aura for 4 Rounds; however, while the outgoing damage does indeed work as intended, the resistance does not.

Considering my wizard (Tanner IceBane, lv42 Death) I have tested it with various enemies in worlds I did unlock, from Lost Souls to Troubled Warriors and even Beghastion Crowcallers (including bosses like the War/Death/Plague/Jade Oni, Krokhotep, Krokopatra etc.) with the same result: whenever an enemy casts an offensive spell at me (be it Scarab, Ghoul, Humongofrog or any other spell that deals damage) a

PIERCED!

appears over my wizard's head.

This seems like a visual quirk of the effect. If I had to guess, the -40% resistance probably just acts like 40% pierce on yourself

It does not give 40% resistance it removes 40% resistance

But those increase the damage you take, and your own resistances are still accounted for.

Sure, they work a bit differently, but Reinforce is doing what it says

The pierce text doesn’t make sense in this context since the defense is simply being reduced. Pierce text signifies that an attacker is piercing through some defense. This situation is different since defense isn’t being pierced, it’s just reduced. This visual bug is misleading especially if you’re fighting mobs that have no inherent pierce stats.

Not a big issue but still smells “buggy” to me

In terms of functionality it is working

But shields are described the same way (-80% MythSchool damage, reference from Myth Shield) so technically it should work like that, right (?)

No, Reinforce explicitly uses the Resistance icon, whereas the others don’t

It says “-40% Resistance”. You can look at the similar item card Bulwark to see that that was designed as the opposite

Bulwark gives -40% outgoing damage but you take 40% less incoming damage

Bulwark isnt the opposite of Reinforce, it's the direct opposite of Berserk and Frenzy.

The cards were introduced at the same time, so it’s likely they were designed at the same time

Either way, Reinforce is functionally behaving as intended
