Extra credit increases the amount you have unlocked, but not the total. So you can go over the "maximum possible" with extra credit badges

This isn't a case of extra credit badges. It's just incorrectly counting. Azteca has no extra credit badges

For sections that do have extra credit badges, the section count isn't supposed to change. For example, Krokotopia shows 16/16 even if you have the 17th Spiderbane (EC)
