hi! i am plan on creating an educated, gamified game about cybersecurity for my passion project. however, i do not know whether to use java or python when coding the game. i have basic knowledge on both languages but i plan on learning more about them as i plan out my game. i would appreciate opinions on whether java or python would be more suitable!
#java or python for creating an app

Well, if we’re talking about games, C++ should be the obvious choice 😄 But for real - between Java and Python for this purpose, I would probably choose Python.
I would consider your release plan - is it only for you? Would you mind sharing your code with third parties? Would you like it if the person who downloads it could easily run it? If you need to release and distribute it, I would prefer Java (it will be obfuscated by design and easy to manipulate for others). If it’s for you, I would choose Python as it will be easier in general to develop.
yeah i plan on learning C++ maybe in the future since i'm mostly focusing on java & python 😅 .
and thank you for your input!! i'll have to use python then.
Python is slow for big projects, you need java to optimise it better.
It depends how big this will be.
For something small python is okay, won't hurt the time much, but for big things definitely not python.
it's not gonna be too big since i'm also busy with other things (school, volunteering, etc.). maybe just like a game with at least 3 outcomes, depending on how much time i can dedicate to it
but i'll figure it out anyways once i get a new computer
thank you though!!
Yeah, it depends on you.
I definitely can't say what you're planning.
But I'll say whatever you use , learn it better, so you can atleast optimise it the best.
python, lol....dad's been making me learn it more than java
Then focus on python now
i will
While making the game you'll learn better about it
You use PyQt or tkinter
Or renpy
Or pygame
thank you sm!!!
fr im tired of the basic thumbs up. give me smth with more energy
