#some punishment for having more hands

right now, having/using things immediately has a downside
jokers - having less slots, being somewhat chained to the build in certain scenarios, costing money
tarots - changes your deck for the better or for the worse, also costs money
planets - can poison the fool
spectrals - always have some kind of downside in most places
some vouchers - have some downside like diluting your shop
my point is, some vouchers like grabber or wasteful seem like extremely obvious takes even for their relatively high (compared to most cards) cost of 10$
grabber pays for itself in 10 rounds
overstock saves rerolls so you can spend all the money somewhere else
i just want more things to discourage winmore

Grabber is not winmore if you’re looking at it as a money generator since you gotta remember that ante 8 runs are only 24 rounds, so it takes literally half the game to pay itself off by that metric. And I’m not even sure what the post is trying to communicate

I think Vouchers are okay as "always good to take this if you can"

#

The balance is that they're expensive

scarlet crypt
#

Plus grabber isn’t even that strong of a voucher, it’s not even top 3 imo

vagrant axle
#

Grabber is winless imo

raw merlin
#

well also it gives you more freedom

#

thats why i mentioned wasteful

#

wasteful isn't a money generator

wispy charm
#

winmore doesnt mean you have more resources

#

winmore means those resources come in useful only when youre already winning

#

also grabber is probably the best overall voucher but thats fine

#

grabbers extra can be used as extra score

#

plus vouchers are expensive yeah

#

rebate and immolate need to be nerfed way more than grabber

scarlet crypt
#

Shoutout to how money tree isn’t even mentioned as a winmore voucher

wispy charm
#

seed money and blank are the two winmore voucher sets id say

tacit silo
#

magic trick is winmore fr because if you pick it up you clearly don't need anything from the shop

wispy charm
#

you not getting vouchers offered against each other

#

so the difference between a hand and discard doesnt make wasteful redundant for example

rare lance
#

hot take: some winmore is okay

raw merlin
#

i'm just saying there should be contemplation on whether to buy the things instead of "how fast can i get my econ stable so i can buy this"

lethal vine
#

isn't that just how the game is anyways

#

like your first priority is always good economy

raw merlin
#

yeah but the econ isn't the point here

#

the point is there should be a decision

wispy charm
#

grabber wasteful and paintbrush dont need a nerf

raw merlin
#

whether to buy it or not

wispy charm
#

some choices being obvious is fine

raw merlin
#

i'm not saying the vouchers themselves need a nerf

#

just there needs to be

#

idk

#

some ordering shenanigans maybe

#

like tarots

wispy charm
#

vouchers in general are far less "do i take the risk" than other pickups

#

if a voucher is good and you can afford to take it you take it

raw merlin
#

but still there should be

#

at least something

wispy charm
#

nah its fine

raw merlin
#

like

#

ok hold up

#

lets go back to the tarot example

#

with the ordering

wispy charm
#

one upgrade of a game being easy to choose when to take when everything else has nuance is like fine

raw merlin
#

if you had two good cards you would want to use them both

#

but the ordering changes things

#

even if using both would be a net positive

scarlet crypt
lethal vine
#

overstock is a contender but an extra hand is extremely versitile

#

due to being more scoring, econ and draws

#

oh and also scaling because half of all gold stake runs are some variation of +mult and pairs

scarlet crypt
#

It’s very strong but it isn’t the strongest voucher to the point of complaining about it

#

Like this post feels like it was made specifically about grabber being too winmore and that’s just wrong imo

lethal vine
#

i agree

#

but it's probably still the strongest

#

10$ is a big investment either way

wispy charm
#

the only winmore vouchers are seed money voucher tiers and blank voucher tiers

#

thats generally my take

#

and observatory? that one just does not show up enough for me to judge it for ante 8 runs

scarlet crypt
#

Yea I agree, the original post makes no sense imo and it feels like it brings up a dozen unrelated things

lethal vine
#

observatory ends up doing about as much as antimatter usually does

short crypt
#

also i love how he said "tarots - change your deck for better or worse" as if the arcana pack is forcing you to use hung man on your gold cards

raw merlin
#

ahh oh no not my polychrome red seal steel kings of hearts why would jimbo do this

hardy cove
#

mm actually i think it's my 3rd best

sullen patio
#

Tbh I don’t get how vouchers are winmore; you pick them up as investments for the future in most cases imo

lean blade
#

money tree is 100% winmore honestly

#

same with magic trick because you only take it with hologram rn

late orbit
#

real question why is the title of the suggestion about hands if the actual suggestion is for vouchers

#

also vouchers are balanced by them showing up randomly with the player having little control in what shows up

kind hearth
#

vouchers are balanced by magic trick and hone being in the pool 🗣️
