We have a joker that gives kings held in hand xmult, and one that gives queens held in hand +mult. So how about a joker that gives jacks held in hand +chips?
Jackhammer: Each Jack held in hand gives +100 chips
I chose +100 because shoot the moon gives +13 and many other jokers follow the ratio of 4 mult ~ 30 chips (e.g. steven/todd, empress/hiero) and if we plug in +13mult into that ratio we get almost exactly 100 chips. it doesn't seem that broken when I think about it but who knows

good but
?
Did you mean +100 chips instead of +100 mult…..?
Regardless seems very strong
then again STM is also pretty strong yet it doesnt see much usage in the game
it's just hard to pull enough queens/jacks
eh i chose 100 just because of that ratio but it can be changed if its still OP
+100 chips per jack is still pretty overtuned
pretty easy to outdo a stuntman w/ this
yeah
chips and mults are inherently not treated the same in game simply due to how mult gets affected by xmult
so a 1:1 ratio doesn't exactly make sense
the main weakness of this is plant but then just
play all the jacks
+80 would be a balanced number
but it's still a lot
I feel like this would be balanced as an Uncommon
Makes sense since Shoot The Moon is Common and Baron is Rare
you do know that xmult ends up affecting chips because mult affects chips
But uncommons are always stupidly overpowered
Nice idea but a bit too strong
and this will fit right in!
we can always change it to like 75 or smth
jackin’ it
Yes but mathematically speaking you want chips and mult to be as close to each other to maximize your score (hence why plasma does plasma things) so the relative value of chips and mult are different given than you have methods of quickly multiplying mult via well xmult while chips is just +chips
I hope I’m like actually making sense
I don’t think I am 😭
i think i get what you’re going for
and there is a reason that chips come in higher numbers than mult
i just dont think its because of xmult
chips jokers are less common than mult jokers, and most hands have a much higher base chips than mult, making mult more valuable to an extent
but as long as you have no +mults after the xmult then you may as well just be multiplying the final score
This argument feels flawed as it's relying on the fact your trying to justify "chips come in higher numbers because planets give more chips than mult"
Also this idea is very rarity dependant
If this isn't a rare it's majorly overtuned IMO
And even as a rare it could use a slight nerf- but that gets more into needing to playtest
Xmult is Xchips assuming you don't put +mult after Xmult
This is true, but doesn't matter without subtraction or division
Multiplying either side of chips/mult by 2 will provide the same end goal, as multiplicative growth is linear
?
that was a shitty summarization of what i said
Its literally 50% of the point you made outside of "chip jokers are less common"
okay
It wasn't a shitty summarization, it was me saying that half of the point seems unfounded
so do you think that mult is lower because of xmult
I think that's part of it
I still agree with the other part of what you said
Chip jokers being rarer as whole lead to much more inflated valyes
I just think that part of it was a poor argument for why lol
Ekther way i think we can agree- We need -mult/j
i dont really see how
maybe you’re not understanding my point properly cuz im bad at talking
That's definitely a possibility, misunderstandings happen alot
"Most hands have a much higher base chips than mult, making mult more valuable to an extent" seems like a roundabout way to say "because chips come in a larger size (hands/planets) mult comes in a smaller size and makes chip jokers come in a larger size" which is the same as saying "Chips come in a larger size because chips come in a larger size"
Does that make sense-- i don't mean to be an ass if I am coming off as such btw I'm genuinely curious atp what you mean
i guess so
the truth is i dont see the logic behind it past like, it would be hard to balance the game if chips and mult came in the same amounts
mult could come in big numbers and chips in small and the game would operate more or less the same
they’re just two sides of one operator that would provide the same result if swapped
one has to be smaller than the other or its just all plasma deck
Now that's a reasoning I can see and agree with
Or atleast it's articulated more clearly than previously
its basically what i was trying to say but i didnt realize my previous explanation had a stupid hole
Ahh myb then LOP
LOLL
I got the fun kinda tism where I get hyperfocused on a point and struggle to see the stuff surrounding it so shhhh
:p
Just for that. Dms.
making it rare isn't even that bad
it's just i think it would be better as uncommon
because STM is common and baron is rare, so might as well fill the gap with uncommon
in which case yes it would need a nerf to something like +60 or 70 (haha see what i did there)
I don't see what you did there tbh
But I can agree with this
Uncommon for theming, and 60-70 chips would be decent
i think it's just an antijoke at this point: it's funny because of how unfunny and meaningless it is
yep basically 💀
what happened here dawg
Half off topic, 49.9 inside joke, 0.1 misunderstanding
hot take
jokes. should. be. funny.
i never liked the idea of ironic humor
well
at least the extent its gone to
i feel like with most people it kinda just loops around to finding it funny unironically again
but convincing yourself its because it shouldnt be funny
"Chips come in a larger size because chips come in a larger size" is a valid argument here though.
Chips come in a larger size because chips are established to already come in a larger size, so keeping them at that size is balanced.
No it isnt? It's a valid argument as to why future chip jokers shouldn't have smaller values
It isnr a valid argument in explaining why chip jokers/chips as a whole come in larger sizes
Okay but this is a future chip joker
No we need /mult
This right here makes what you're saying wrong- they're not saying "this Joker should come in higher sizes$
They're explaing why they do
Or better √mult
And in that circumstance- it isnt a valid argument.
okay well we're not trying to rebalance the whole game here
Now if they were saying "this idea should give more chips" it'd be a valid argument loll
we're just focusing on the context of adding this new jonkler
errr i kinda fixed my argument
oh you’re the same person
lol
and i think it would be fair if it was +100 if it was rare or +60-75 if it was uncommon
my bad i didnt read context
Pff no worries
Hey that's funny
We swapped who's misunderstanding who
:p
Just pretend I'm throwing rocks at you
yowch
:)
