Laminated cards do not trigger boss blind effects

  • Window, Head, Goad, Club do not debuff their suit

  • Tooth does not subtract $1

  • Can play repeats with the Eye if hand contains a laminated card

  • Can play new hands with the Mouth if hand contains a laminated card

  • Plant will not debuff laminated face cards

  • Cannot be discarded by the Hook

  • Pillar will not debuff laminated cards

  • The Wheel, House & Fish cannot flip this card upside down

  • Cerulean bell will not select a laminated card

  • Verdant leaf will not debuff laminated cards

id be for it if you could get it from a new tarot card

i think every tarot is made into balatro, so Mr, Thunk would have to come up with a new one

#

but at least the idea is promising

should be an edition imo

I think this would work better as an edition, game changer as an edition

Because it trivializes an important mechanic of the game, you probably need some sort of downside. Perhaps the card has a 1 in 4 chance to be destroyed by the boss's ire when it blocks a boss's ability?

Also, laminated cards should probably also apply to The Psychic (allowing the play of fewer than 5 cards), the Ox (avoiding the penalty), the Arm (avoiding the deleveling effect), and The Mark (doesn't flip the card upsidedown if it's a face).

I feel like blinds that affect hands you play should only be able to be bypassed by hands that are made up fully out of laminated cards

#

(ex: play a 3oak w/ no extra cards on psychic only if all 3 are laminated)

I’d rather not risk a card having a 1/4 chance to break because I might lose $1 from playing it. Plus that overlaps with glass too much

Well, is having a single card that trivializes bosses worth +50c, +10m, or x1.5m? I think definitely so. Maybe it can just be considerably more rare? But even then once you get 1 you can make an entire deck full

#

So it needs some sort of balance, the 1 in 4 thing is off the cuff, but I'm wondering if you have a better idea

Idk I really dislike the concept overall especially if it’s gonna destroy itself, but it also feels very overstepping if it protects your entire hand like the original post states (not overpowered, more like unfitting)

#

This feels much more like a joker effect than an enhancement or edition, I think the extra credit mod has a joker that makes enhanced cards nondebuffable and that seems perfect. I just don’t feel like adding laminated to a single card in your deck is meaningful

This also doesn’t protect against the hardest bosses: -1 handsize, discard 2 every hand, no discards, play only one hand, and wall/violet vessel
