"By far the easiest boss" is really, really debatable (at best)
The serpent is quite threatening if you're blue stake or higher and need several large hands to hit the scoring requirements.

It can also just make you not draw your cards

In almost every scenario youre against it
I mean, the easy meta is mostly pair and HC, so the Serpent isn't too bad unless you're trying to have a little fun with the game and playing other builds.
but if you locked into a build that requires you hit 3 straights to win this blind then, well, you're a little behind on scoring, and this boss is probably going to kill you.
but then again so would needle.
I wouldnt take meta into account for balancing

You kinda have to, both for better and worse
(For a game like this where the meta isn't going to shift often, you 100% need to keep it in mind for balancing)
Isnt highcard being nerfed/made not as powerful next gameplay update?
Im unaware if that's the case;
Blue stake is gett8ng changed, which will make bigger hands better
But that won't make HC or Pair any less meta; just make not running meta slightly more viable (unless the new blue stake actively harms smaller hands)
I mean it should make high card less of a meta
Hopefully other buffs to other things and new additions will also do that
Serpent is being reworked to not go over handsize and that’s fine
