thats awesome! right now the roadmap is looking like v1.1.0 by EOW with Nalthis completed, after which I want to do Elantris, and then finally move to stormlight archives
i don't think that the Shards should be jokers if they end up implemented, it feels a little too limiting. i imagine the Shards as basically being a "legendary-tier consumable" that'd have the same rarity as a Soul card. think of it like tapping into a Shard's power for a single moment to buff a playing card or Joker.
there will be a bunch of side additions and balance changes in those versions

i had some ideas for the Shard consumables if those end up being a thing, lemme post them
here's what i had in mind: as a general rule, these special seals cannot be Death'd.
Honor
Gives selected Joker or playing card Honor's Seal. Honor's Seal ensures all variable outcomes are guaranteed.
Preservation
Gives selected Joker or playing card a white seal. Jokers or playing cards with a white seal cannot be sold or destroyed. If this is applied to a playing card, this card will always appear in your first hand.
Ruin
Permanently destroys up to two selected Jokers or playing cards, and creates one consumable black seal for each. These black seals can also be applied to either a Joker or a playing card. A black seal will carry all abilities of the Joker or playing card used to create it. Enhancements, seals, and editions are lost.
Odium
Enhances up to three Jokers or playing cards into Fused cards. If this card is destroyed, it will return at the beginning of the next ante with an additional trigger. Stacks up to 9 times.
Cultivation
Gives two Jokers or playing cards Cultivation's Seal. Cards with Cultivation's Seal can gain all enhancements, seals, and editions at once. When a playing card with Cultivation's Seal is scored, that card increases in rank. If the card is leveled past Ace, it instead becomes a Joker that keeps all of its abilities, seals, and editions without occupying a Joker slot.
these are likely super unbalanced, but the idea is that you can apply a Shard's influence to both Jokers and playing cards.

here are my thoughts on each of them
Honor: No notes - banger idea
Preservation: I think this is basically making a joker "eternal" for the playing card, im not sure what the thematic connection is
Ruin: Im making the assumption that joker ruin seals can only be put on jokers and same for playing cards. This is interesting, i am not sure how i would implement something like this, I will likely make this only jokers and not playing cards since there are ways to put card editions enhancements seals on another card. RE: Spike Tarot Card.
Odium: I would make this "sold or destroyed" instead of destroyed since otherwise it would be very difficult to collect those stack ups unless you have a ceremonial dagger? (Playtesting change)
Cultivation: I love this ability, I am not sure I understand what the joker thing is however, what joker would it become?
Preservation: I actually changed it from my original idea, which was "If applied to a playing card, the card will always appear in your hand even after play or discard". it seemed a little too powerful, though.
Cultivation: it would become its own Joker, but i'll be honest i have no idea how that can be achieved on the coding end lmao. I wanted some sort of reward for getting a card past Ace, though, and it seemed in-theme for a card to be "cultivated" into becoming even stronger (in terms of gameplay, leveling it from a card to become its own Joker). that's definitely the shakiest part of the idea, though.
good change on Odium, yeah that'd be perfect
Ruin too, it would basically make it another way to duplicate Jokers, except that using Ruin would permanently destroy that Joker for that run (ie, you couldn't get another one by rolling in the shop). oh and the enhancements would be lost too, but that's more thematic than anything X3
tbh cultivation's coding part is not the most difficult thing ive implemented in this mod so thats not that big of a problem
im just skeptical of adding jokers from cards because that would be a very easy way to gt 4-8 extra jokers (A/K)

Ba-Ado-Mishram
Scored cards in winning hand are enhanced to Regal cards. If this Joker is sold, all cards enhanced this way become debuffed.
Regal effect: This card counts as both a King and a Queen, and retriggers itself once when scored.
Re-Shephir
If first discard of round is a single card, destroy that card and add a negative copy to your deck. Destroyed after three uses.
Yelig-nar
If first card of round is a single card, that card gains all enhancements, seals, and editions. Only one card can be buffed in this way by this joker. If either this Joker or the Card is sold or destroyed, the other is destroyed.

(This is based on his speech to Amaram. 10 spears go to battle and 1 returns. Did the war forge the one that survived? No. It only identified the spear that would not break. The plus 25 is arbitrary. Could be more, could be less. Hiker gains +5, for reference)

3rd ability: something related to enslaving

Yeah you're overthinking it. Evolution should be a setting, and if it's off treat each joker the same
Your way is not bad. It can be fun for regular gameplay. But when someone is playing with the intent of getting far or employing a certain strategy, it doesn't work. Keep your version of evolution as an option, and say it's to show how characters change over time

[WIP] BalatroXCosmere - Want Playtesters!
For stormlight, i want to take it slow and flesh out some core concepts, maybe for first stormlight version i will do basic mechanics of the world, different life forms, etc (even if theyre revealed in later books, for instance, the everstorm)
Highstorm/everstorm combo - once every 5 rounds something related to chips, once every 9 rounds something related to mult, would be big swings (could also be new mechanic in game)
NightWatcher will be a new mechanic of the game, every 4 antes if you sell all but one joker and have no consumables, the nightwatcher will grant you one boon (this could be granting enhancements/editions on your deck of cards, or getting rid of some ranks, or making more of others - to be fleshed out later)
Fabrials will be new consumable cards
lighteyes/darkeyes - will be implemented based on suit colours although exact stuff ill flesh out after
certain voidbringers will be boss blinds - Pursuer is a bossblind that keeps coming back with higher blind requirements
different swordforms will be brought in as a new mechanic where they provide passive buffs each round
for instance an offensive swordform would grant the player increase scoring efficiency by 10% but the blind requirement goes up a bit
a lot of the stuff regarding stormlight will be brough in slowly as new mechanics with the aim of doing something similar in other worlds
i want feedback on specific stuff that i outlined above but also on the general idea of it, do you think its a good idea? too much? would you rather contain it within a deck? or a setting to toggle these on/off so you can play it with other decks?
also because this will be a sizeable update, the next update will be a while away so in the meantime let me know if there are any bugs with current release, if certain things need to be changed/fixed or just general feedback
This is ambitious! I am a balatro purist at heart, and although these ideas sound interesting they add a complication that might not be everyone's favorite. Stuff like the night watcher should be optional.
Also, if you're going to start on this big project, make sure you can finish it. This could easily be overwhelming. If it might be too much for you right now, maybe tone it down.

The project is going to be made more slow and I’ll be doing these one at a time so it won’t be a huge undertaking I think (in before I start losing my mind at 3 am)

Update: Joker evolution mechanic is optional now - Vin will stay as Vin if the evolution mechanic is toggled off in the config tab

Made some balance changes, changed the rarity of original preserver jokers
Buffed marsh to 1 in 2 chance but nerfed spawn rate (he’s rare now)
Fixed a lord ruler blind issue (again)
There’s better messages that help you see the effects of boss blinds

Update: I’m trying to create a new card area for stormlight mechanics and it is making me want to kms
But the next update will feature a new currency which will mimic how stormlight and gemstones work on Roshar
The currency can be spent to buff jokers

Not really, life happened and I just can’t commit any more time to this project
Would be happy if someone else wished to continue the project but I can’t come back to this project for a long time atleast
I can try to maintain support for current features but no promises
