codex arcanum doesn't not work not because they are bad, but the idea is fundamentally flawed
i think there's almost no way of making consumables without permanent effects work
...auxiliary cards are good
i mean, codex is playable, but it just does not feel right
they have permanent effects though
+3 handzise for this round is useful
and it's not permanent
+3 hands and +3 discards are also good efffects and only last 1 round
yeah, but that's one card, making a whole set for it does not really work

the issue with alchemicals is that you can't rely on those effects to win, and they are useless if used only a few times
since every blind is harder than the previous one
they are only useful in cases in which you deliberately take more risks
in a game like slay the spire it would make sense since you sometimes have harder encunter
stuff like, +700 atk for the remainder of one's turn doesn't seem bad to me
in anime context
also your health is shared between fights
wich means that even an easy fight can be deadly if u are low
one offs which actually matter
