what difference would it have to xmult? It seems like it’d just make the game unnecessarily more complicated (and also break plasma deck)

There is a way to multiply chips, its called mult

neon white can't save you from the fact that in 98% of all cases, xchips and xmult are identical(the only cases where they aren't is on plasma deck and with brainstorm. Otherwise, they will play identically)

i think the reason xchips gets suggested so often is that we have +chips for several jokers, but because we have xmult that is triggered many times in good builds, +chips makes almost no difference, even less than +mult

Chips are incredibly useful

You can't multiply your mult if you don't have any good mult
