i think instead, you should have +1 hand size, and that +1 card in hand is the fake card

This is a pretty common idea(see The Brain etc) where cards have some sort of "disease" effect applied to them that makes them unable to complete the hand they're in. It's always a bad idea because it feels unfair

You play a good hand and it gets completely invalidated because you happened to pick the bad card that you had no shot at avoiding

Could it be that 1 in 6 chance a card is Debuffed? You don't lose your hand composition, but it's still a penalty. That or all hands are demoted a level this round.
