#Balatro Crashes My PC

I'm gonna be honest, I'm completely at a loss.

I launch and play the game for about 5-10 minutesish. Things start to get real choppy (Discord, interactions, streams, etc). Then my PC blackscreens like it's sleeping and I have to power it off using the power button. I have no idea why this is happening. This is the only game that does it.

PC specs:
i7-12700KF
RTX 3070ti
64GB Ram
Plenty of storage

Event viewer is either too complicated for me to understand or not giving me any info. I am apparently the only person in the world who has this issue.

I have verified files, updated pc, reinstalled my NVIDIA GPU drivers from scratch, sfc /scannow, dism, and chkdsk through cmd, nada.

Please help, I want to play poker 2 :(

Okay so, I just tried to play it again.

This is after I bought and installed an entirely new C drive because my old one was failing, thought that may have been the issue. It wasn't. My PC still plays the game for about 2-5 minutes, things get super laggy, then it completely crashes my PC. I can save it by ALT+F4'ing Balatro when I start to notice it slowing down but if I don't, it just crashes the entire pc. Help. I beg. I don't want to return this game but it's looking like I might have to.

In event viewer I'm given this:

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video3
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

I assume it's an Nvidia issue but like, this is a brand new drive, with brand new files, with a brand new install of drivers. I don't know what to do.

I'm necroing this post because I still haven't been able to play this game. I now have a brand new GPU as well. I've tried reinstalling drivers, new C drive, verified files, windows updates, component updates, the whole thing. Help. Please.

My PC crashes after 5-10 minutes of playing the game. No bluescreen. It just turns off my monitors and I can no longer interact with anything. A manual power off is needed. This is the only game out of the hundreds I own that does it.

I'm not familiar with this crash (and a new drive+GPU not fixing anything is kinda crazy), but I do have some basic questions.

  1. How many monitors are you running (and at what resolution/hz)?
  2. Googling your event viewer message gives a wide array of results and possible solutions, mostly related to hardware/drivers. I'm assuming you've tried some of these already?

2 monitors, main at 165 and second at 60

I’ve tried many of them especially those pertaining to gpu issues

Okay so, turns out it was fullscreen. This whole goddamned time it was fullscreen. Windowed and borderless run perfectly fine and I can play, fullscreen blackscreens my pc

I've heard of people having issues with that before, but it's usually not this bad
