Swan Song (Rare)

Jokers when sold during the shop phase have a 1 in 4 chance to reappear in the shop for free and with a random edition.

Jokers when sold during the shop phase have a 1 in 6 chance to give their corresponding rarity and edition tags.

tried something new with visible eyes

If I sold a Joker then I don't want it, this is a downside

compact vigil
#

it's not like it takes up a shop slot, it reappears without taking up a shop space, so at worst its free money

#

so there's barely a downside but I see where you're coming from

#

if at all

vague venture
#

2 oops all 6's with this lets you get everything in whatever edition you want

#

just keep on selling for negatives and poly chrome

compact vigil
#

yeah

#

but thats a big investment

#

and likely not practical, which is fun!

vague venture
#

it's not that hard to do

compact vigil
#

Invis is a big investment! especially with guaranteeing it hits oops is a whole nother can of worms

#

but I think it being a huge investment is partly why I like it so much

rough zodiac
#

Wouldn't it just go infinite with 2 oops all sixes?

compact vigil
#

yes

rough zodiac
#

Like infinite money

compact vigil
#

likely

#

actually yeah now that I think about it despite the fact two Oops is a bit daunting to get, the pay off is a bit large

rough zodiac
#

I mean, you sell a joker, it reappears for free with an ediyion. You buy and sell it. It reappears for free with a Random edition

#

I'm just not a big fan of it going infinite lol

compact vigil
#

I understand where you're coming from

rough zodiac
#

It would be less interesting for sure, but it could give you an Uncommon, Rare, Polychrome, Holographic, Foil, or Negative Tag instead of the exact joker sold

#

Then it can't go infinite, as you need to reroll to get new jokers in the shop to use the tags

compact vigil
#

that would be a nice balance change

#

Would it be like still chance based and THEN chance based again on which tag you'd get

pastel hull
#

maybe like dependant on what you sell

compact vigil
#

Yeah thats what I was thinking

pastel hull
#

like if it's an uncommon or rare you get the rarity tag but if it's a common you get the edition tag

compact vigil
#

would also dissuade @vagrant bridge's criticism about selling a joker meaning you don't want it, giving you a variety of tags instead of the exact joker would be an actually fun and probably an even better mechanic

compact vigil
#

basically "rebirthing" your joker

#

like if you proc it from a foil hit the road

#

you'd get a rare and foil tag

pastel hull
#

oooh that's good too

compact vigil
#

absolutely peak suggestion sizzle

rough zodiac
#

While that is cool, it now feels too difficult to proc. To get a rare polychrome, you both need to sell a rare with polychrome AND succeed the 1/4 or 1/6 chance

#

Which we have all used Wheel of Fortune, and we all know we aren't gonna see enough Rare Polychromes to trigger it lol

compact vigil
#

yeah but if we keep it 1 in 4 it'd be infinite-able as you criticized earlier

#

and its not like it only works with rare and polychrome

rough zodiac
#

Nah, it won't go infinite with tags

compact vigil
#

you could sell a random uncommon and get a free uncommon

#

next shop reroll/reset

#

negatives would be especially insane gambles

rough zodiac
#

Since tags don't spawn jokers, they affect the next joker in the shop. Which means you need to reroll or reset the shop, which provides a limiter that stops you from going infinite

#

Since reroll cost will win

compact vigil
#

Fair!

#

Though I'm at a loss for what "condition" the specific effect should have to be considered balanced

rough zodiac
#

I think if you go with a 1/4, it should be

"1/4 chance when you sell a joker to get a random joker or edition tag"

If you go with 1/6 on the other hand

"1/6 chance when you sell a joker to get a random joker tag and edition tag"

#

No idea if that's actually balanced though lol. Just trying to think of something that feels balanced and fun

compact vigil
#

I think anything people say is worth considering when in regards to criticism
