Next gen edition
Appearance/VFX: applies a smoothing filter on the card making it look less pixelated and more «HD».

Effect:
+3 Poker hand levels if this card contributed in scoring the hand.

Notes:
• Compatible with both Jokers and playing cards.
• «Contributed in scoring» for a Joker means that it has to get triggered.
• Poker hand level bonus is applied to the currently scoring poker hand respectively.
• Synergies with Splash accordingly.

This seems a lot of work for something that is arguably worse than a foil.

humble spruce
#

I also probably didn't put into consideration that leveling always upgrades by the same amount of mult/chips and doesn't accelerate

#

My bad

lethal lantern
#

Having to apply a filter only to a section of a screen.

humble spruce
#

Just an overlay

lethal lantern
#

You want a smoothing filter on a single card

humble spruce
#

But have you ever actually worked with Love2D?

#

or Lua?

#

Also, why does implementation matter? I'm here pitching a general idea

#

a concept

lethal lantern
#

Not arguing there are efficient ways to go about it, but the thing I'm saying is this seems to go a step further than just a gameplay addition for a single cosmetic effect.

#

Which anyway I already commented about, it's kinda worse than a foil/hologram.

#

Gives me an idea for a joker though.

humble spruce
#

Starting with 3OAK and higher it gives +6 Mult and +60 chips

#

And from here it only gets bigger

lethal lantern
#

Ah you changed to +3, it was +1 before.

humble spruce
lethal lantern
#

Depends still. Lower scoring hands still have weaker power.

lethal lantern
#

+3 mult +45 chips on a pair

lethal lantern
#

Depending I might take a hologram

humble spruce
#

And that's totally fine

#

It's a slightly situational edition

#

With a big scoring potential

lethal lantern
#

Yeah for a straight it's +9 mult +90 chip, that's more power.

#

Too much power even. Makes it pretty uneven.

humble spruce
#

cuz they are harder to get

#

Flush levels are worse than straight levels even though flush stays above straight in terms of "rarity"

lethal lantern
#

You need to look at the increment a planet card grants, not the level.

#

A flush is +15 chip +2mult

humble spruce
#

Read

#

?

lethal lantern
#

I read these are level 1 to level 2 differences but they're also wrong?

#

Straight should be 7

humble spruce
#

Why they are wrong

#

Where did you get that information

lethal lantern
#

...saturn is +3mult +30chips

#

Neptune is +40 chip +4mult

#

Ceres too is +4 mult

humble spruce
lethal lantern
#

It's literally on the wiki and in the game

humble spruce
#

Send a link to that wiki page

lethal lantern
#

You can hover on a planet card in your collection

humble spruce
#

7?

#

@lethal lantern my point still stands tho. Straight is an exception: being a more common poker hand but still giving more chips and mult when upgrading it

lethal lantern
#

You can reliably make a four of a kind deck too.

#

And anyway your idea is about giving 3 extra levels when it scores. You're not to look at the jump from 1 to 2, but the gain from 3 levels on each type of hand, is what I've said.

humble spruce
lethal lantern
#

It can be way too strong too.

#

Have a death card in hand, a 4 of a kind now scores +18 mult +180 chips

humble spruce
#

It's just 3 poker levels. It's better than foil and holo but worse than poly

#

That's all to it

#

The twist is that the card with Next geb edition should fit into your build

#

and contribute to the main poker hand you play

lethal lantern
#

As I said, -oaK builds.

humble spruce
#

Fine, let it be strong with them, why not?

#

Regardless, it's hard to tell for sure how it will play out without playtesting and statistics

lethal lantern
#

It just seems a bit disembalanced, it's at worst a better foil, at best, a way better polychrome

#

It's not hard to notice. Just the base chip gain from 3 levels almost always beats the +50 from a foil

#

And you also get +mult

humble spruce
#

So what? It's supposed to be a rare type of edition

#

Between holo and poly

Blue seal does this once at the end of the round, and is easily the best seal in the game.

The description said nothing about it being temporary

I feel like it is +3 levels when scoring, not perma
