Rework Cartomancer to be more unique

Cartomancer currently shares a lot of utility eith hallucination. Both have statistically the same odds if you open both packs, but hallucination is a lot more interesting design-wise. It has synergy with Oops all 6s and other jokers that synergize with pack opening (Red card, constellation, hologram)

Cartomancer doesnt really have anything. They just generate a tarot card per blind, thats it. The only thing it has going for it is that its consistent and doesnt cost any money, but i feel like thats not enough to make it distinct.

In my opinion, completely reworking it would be the best option, such as having tarot cards be at a discounted price on the shop or have a chance to be free.

I get that, but this is too boring and doesnt fill any hole

Hallucination is as reliable and more interesting

I'd argue hallucination is less reliable since it's got the random chance and you have to spend money to activate it

The hole is easy tarot generation, there’s multiple tarot generators but none of them are as simplistic

Also cartomancer is pretty solid, I like it and I think it has good design

Like I can see how you could think it does too little since it’s just a single tarot card a round, but that’s actually a lot of consistency in scaling and deck manipulation. If it hits hermit or temperance once, it pays itself off. If it hits death or hanged man, you’re much better than before. Even the suit changers early on are helpful in making a bricked hand playable by making a flush or flush house

Also tarot cards interact with your whole deck, is that not enough?

You might not be able to use tarot from hallucination immediately, but you always have cards to use the cartomancer's tarot.

Cartomancer is as boring as Golden Joker, but both of those are great when you need something easy and consistent

They slot well into builds that have complex hands or conditions for their Mult, because you don't need to worry about them

I think Balatro is great because of how many hoops you need to jump through for a functioning build/an ideal turn, but having some jokers that don't require that sets them apart

Having easy access to Tarots gives the player a lot more decision points and lets them hone their deck, which is always a critical and fun part of the game

Having easy access to Tarots here and there helps players smooth out their deck

if everything is unique, it wont feel as unique in comparison to most things being unique with some basic concepts
