ok i asked for someone to look over it, as i need to fix a few things and prepare for cryptid cross mod stuff

I was able to comment out the Constellation tag in object.patches.lua and that the game booted up at least.

I tried installing with and without the Manager. With the latest smod and lovely. Im on windows. Always crashing on Startup.

Theres another one that crashes as well its the 4 suit one. All the other ones are fine. Im guessing its something with the pop up as no pop up appears at all when you hover over them
I know you removed Malverk before - i haven't tested on the other packs but i've been running Malverk with all textures on Vanilla+ just fine. it'd be cool to have those added

Just gonna shotgun a question out to all of the Talisman pack users, though maybe people have seen this in Main as well.
Has anybody experienced weird condition-based calculations? I'm trying to figure out what's messing with it so I can trim it from my personal list.
Some examples of weird things that I've seen:
- A card with an Aventurine gemstone slotted in is supposed to pay out $4 when you discard it, but it's paying out $4 when I discard anything.
- Gold Cards just straight up don't pay out for having them in your hand at the end of the round.
- Teal Seal is meant to destroy the card when you discard it by itself, but I now have an invisible card in my deck that I can continue to Discard by itself to "destroy" it and gain the seal's benefits.

Okay, so that's helpful to know. Likely means it's something specific to the Talisman pack. So I can work around trying to pull them one at a time and see if it starts behaving.

Yeah SMODS.Tag.generate_ui is getting a nil card
Auto-assuming the culprit is just a mod that doesn't have card param in their generate_card_ui hook

I know SMODS made a bypass for that but I don't think tags do.
smods adds a dummy object, but there's no reason for the actual one to be removed
If at least one mod exists that has a hook omitting card then it'll become nil.
Which looks to be the case considering that two of these don't report card in the stack trace.
Bingo, there's one in the Talisman branch of the full pack.

note that this is on full, i replaced the mods from full in the mods folder with all the mods in fine-tuned and worked fine

game is crashing frequently so im just removing problematic mods until it works again, but i have a problem i cant seem to fix. any time i hover over this deck in the new game screen, the game crashes, and i cant figure out why

something that might be related is that I got asked to sign into github for some reason moments after pressing install

I was in the wrong project
new update (out yesterday) allows you to change hotkeys in config section. for customization i suppose you can tune the card edition bonuses/penalties in the file given here. for example red seal, stone edition and polychrome give 50, 15 and 75 points respectively so a red sealed stone will have 50+15=65 points for pickability while any polychrome card has 75 points so selecting a polychrome card is preferred over red sealed stone. other than that there is not much customizability

Lock The Deal must be installed within it's nested folder setup you get when downloading directly from the github

talisman branch features the mod "Talisman" and some extra mods that depend on it
some other mods are not compatible with it so there's two branch

Launch options may also be set by creating a game shortcut and Setting Steam Launch Options for the shortcut.
i believe this is only for steam and steam apps

I have been removing and adding mods to try and find a culprit and it's very arbitrary and mods that break it work on their own

i think the issue is probably multiple mods
i would search lovely and look for copies of lovely (not just folders named lovely)
betmma has its own lovely but it's just additional .toml for it's mod
so it wouldn't override

"dropper", yes it's a mod manager it will drop files
"downloader", yes it's a mod manager it downloads mods
three of them are non-descriptive
and then one of them is a bogus trojan detection from some random antivirus
glad ur being proactive and dropping things into virustotal before running them though

the odds that the crash is caused by a developer error versus me being stupid are so low that it would just waste dev time
you'll never get an answer if you just sit on it and keep it to yourself

ill figure out which mod is causing the crash and report it directly
it says which mod is causing the crash at the top of the crash log
and which line it's on
and a sometimes helpful error message
mods are often so interlinked that the root cause isnt that mod tho
that's only really an issue with cryptid or smods taking over the crash log
and even then there's probably something else in the crash log that helps find the actual cause
i don't know how to read the entire crash log
so i was right to begin with it was me being stupid
this is why i typically keep my pc issues to myself because 9/10 ive just spent too much time messing with it

i didnt manually wipe it, the modpack manager does it automatically
semantically i still did it because i chose not to untick the checkbox that said "Delete Mods Folder"

a crash i think to do with the mods that adds lil abilities to the side that recharge, i have a run rn where i have an ability active, but no card selected to use it on, and if i hit end run to continue, it crashes to this lol
i guess i had somehow triggered this by trying to select a jack, but this ability destroys a numbered card and then adds that number of cards to the hand, so destroy a 6 draw six cards, i guess it doesnt know what to do when you try and use it with a jack

Because it sounds like you hit Download Modpack, but then haven't clicked on Install Modpack
So, it's just sitting in the download directory and hasn't actually been put into Balatro's mod directory yet, so it - of course - isn't working properly.

I'm convinced that Betmma's Abilities letting me add random Editions to Jokers is causing much of my woes. It feels like every time I use that ability, I get some edition from some random mod I've never heard of and as soon as the round scores, the whole thing just explodes because the edition never even considered that it would ever have to process itself on a Joker instead of a regular card.
I guess this time around, we're trying to get juiced-up and the game just has no clue what to do about that. Fuckin' nil value indexing.
disabling Strangelib and the mods that use it seemed to fix things
I've seen other people see that using that Enhancer ability crashes them. It's crashed me too. I just wouldn't use it and maybe send that log over to Betmma on their discord thread.
