some recent change to steamodded causes issues to some metadata parsing. in this case the version field in the header should be something like 1.0-beta.
so I need to downgrade to steamodded 1.0-beta?
no, you'd need to modify the AntononStakes.lua file to change the VERSION: field at the top

the steamodded change seems to have been recent. I may end up forking and making small fixes for the mods that aren't still under development

More Elbe's update troubles. This crash shows up on boot.
Seems to randomly alternate between that one and bad argument #4 to 'send' (number expected, got nil), both crashes happening when it's just about to end the mod loading.
fine tuned pack is missing malverk (dependency)
this one's a bit more annoying. right now, for me, any mod that puts their metadata in a json file and has a dependency list fails to load, so in this case the lovely patch for the mtg mod has been applied but the mtg code didn't actually load. it's nice to get confirmation that it's not just a me problem, though.
feh, looks like they changed the logic to specifically want the list to be in the format [ "Steamodded (>=1.0.0~ALPHA-1030e)"] and not the format that a bunch of mods currently use which is [ { "id": "Steamodded", "min_version": "1.0.0~ALPHA-1030e" } ]
amusingly, the only mod I have that has it in the "correct" format is steamodded itself

I assume it must have to some degree. SynthDeck hasn't been updated in 3 weeks but it has it's metadata in json format
Well, it fixed that crash. Now instead of being 50/50 to be either the shop discount crash or the bad argument #4 crash, it's always bad argument #4.
I also see Gemstones, hellatro, magic the jokering, minty's silly mod, snoresville's turbulent jokers, and tattered decks
there's one or two mods that have the json metadata but also have the lua header but steamodded seams to load those alright
Maybe there was an early unfinished version put in that had some early adopters

Well, removing LobCorp didn't fix it, so I'm putting that back in and giving up for now. I'm gonna try and figure out what that's all about after lunch. Maybe update the modpack again since Tattered Decks just updated a couple hours ago.
Hello everyone, does anyone know how to fix this error? I deleted antonosstakes and crimstakes cause those names were popping up in crash reports, and now it loads, but the second i start a run this crash happens instead

I'd say start with updating steamodded. The version it shows in the log seems pretty old.

update your mods, that mod has been fixed for a month as far as I can tell
I couldn't say if dims has fixed it yet but the version in the modpackutil Lua file needs to start with a number while your error has it as "full"

The path to the Lua file is listed in the crash log and then right near the top should be a line that starts with "--- Version"
I'm really sick of trying to update the mod pack and finding it doesn't work and I need to go deselect every mod to see what the problem is. What version of lovely actually works now? Am I supposed to use somethign other than beta 6 yet

So that one is because of a recent change to steamodded that makes some mods' dependency data invalid. This upcoming week I'll be looking at forking a few that may not be in active development.

alrighty, elbe's pack has been updated to include jen's playtest - including removing the various incompatibilities he put in place. I also included a system for for patching whole files so the metadata json files that don't currently work are overwritten with working versions after the git downloads are complete (something @silver oriole can look at including in their packs if they want). It would probably be a good idea to fully reinstall the pack but hopefully right out of the box you should be able to get into the game at least.

more or less, yeah. I made a "Patches" folder in the modpack directory and after it finishes downloading the modpack it will just copy everything from Patches to Mods. So you create new versions of the files you want to patch in the Patches folder and it will overwrite them at update

its a pretty basic system but it will work for files we don't expect to get updated very often. I was thinking of writing a more complex system but I don't really need to overcomplicate things

Can I install your version by myself manually?
Since I couldn't run properly modpack manager on Steam Deck. So, only option I found that worked was to manually download mods and add them to the desired folder myself.
You can try downloading the setup batch file from the windows folder in the modpack files

But Steam Deck runs on Linux. So I don't think a batch file will help me.
That's the problem with the mod manager, because I have Linux on Steam Deck and I haven't figured out how to combine it.
Ah, not sure I have the cleanest solution. I downloaded everything to my pc before copying the files to an SD card for my steamdeck

Yeah, I don't want to include other people's mods in my pack, I'd have to keep it updated. There is a file called something like .gitsubmodules with a list of all the repos I'm using.

Crimstakes has a bad version number in it's Lua file. You could fix it by removing the "beta"

i had started working on my own pack, so i'll move my mods folder nuke my appdata, destroy belatro then verify Files in steam and redownload the Pack. (i was using Fine tuned)
question when i delete Balatro install, can i just temp move the version.dll i have out the folder then put it back after verify? or should i redownload lovely?

Okay the modpack manager is being stupid. It keeps asking for GitHub credentials partway through and then I give them and it asks again and I give them and then it displays an error message saying it stopped downloading the modpack like 60% of the way through. It does this loop. Every. Time.

Weird. Force end the program, and check if it installed properly by typing git in the command line/command prompt. If not try installing again

opened an arcana pack
randomised a +1 joker slot joker to another of the same rarity with a card

this crash is happening because ipairs(table), which iterates through the table in it, was given a nil value
my mod doesn't go through ipairs at the end of a round anywhere, and the only chance of ipairs returning nil would be if fusionjokers isn't present, in which case my mod won't load because fusionjokers is a dependency
bmjokers does go through ipairs at the end of the round with a specific joker but it was properly defined and works for me on the latest version of the mod
there's also an ipairs in their lovely patch, but that goes through G.jokers.cards and seems to trigger when joker xmult is given? not really sure what that code does but how could it crash at the end of a round that doesn't make sense
the specific combination of bmjokers and tsunami doesn't crash on my end so i'm very lost on this
i suspect that tsunami might be on an older version in the modpack right now and i patched this in my latest release but i can't confirm this without downloading the modpack

It could be a conflict of both mods trying to modify that value at once. Haven't tried running bmjokers without tsunami, but it can at least be resolved without disabling tsunami

Looks like hovering over one of ortalabs tags crashes the game, the one with the sword facing downwards
I have no idea what has been causing it, but running the full modpack minus the bmjokers sometimes the entire UI will just freeze and cause a soft crash. Since its not a full crash I don't even have logs.

ortalab also has a lot of conflict issues with even pretty small packs in my experience, I was getting crashes pretty often with ortalab, betmma mod, cryptid, morefluff and friends of jimbo
I think I also had cardsleeves installed but cardsleeves seems to play nice with 99% of everything
cardsleeves really isn't that invasive

Hello! I've been using the modpack manager to install just a few mods (not the whole pack).
From the description of the pink+ stakes from cryptid, it seems like they're supposed to be added on top of the vanilla gold stake, but that's not happening for me.
Am I missing a mod that might fix this? I don't see anything in the in-game mod configs
my mod list, for reference:
Add Malverk and the texture packs for it ezpz
there was some change to stake logic in steamodded recently so that might be responsible

lobcorp shows up a couple times in the error so you could try disabling that, but otherwise I'm not sure

I think it might be an old version of Bunco from before the fix. The Polymino groupings don't provide the colored bands (or is that a feature that hasn't been released yet?).

It seems to be just about any hand that can do it, but Spectrums, especially ones involving MTJ's Clovers, seem to be the bulk of the crashes. Though that may just be because that's most of the hands I've been playing.

That error is caused by an interaction between more than one mod's patches. It might be fixable by renaming the BMJokers folder so it shows up later in the alphabet.
priority does matter but most mods aren't setting it so it uses alphabet
though I'm unclear if priority works for lovely patches

The Ladder blind though I have no insight on, it works fine on my end and the lovely patch is hitting fine 🤷♂️ the only thing that would stop it working is if you manage to empty your hand with 1 action

went back to fine tuned and I get as far as the loading bar before that crashed
funny enough I was using an older version of that one for awhile and it still worked fine
wanted to give full a try because I've seen how nutty cryptid could get
well it seems to be something specific to debugplus and osx

No, just at times I wait longer for the calcs than the actual scoring
just wanted to know if theres a way to toggle it, just wasn't aware which QoL was doing it
if you are using windows i recommand using manager

I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong on my end, all the other packs download fine, but I keep getting a "Git clone failed" error with a giant error popup with Elbe's pack.

You now download your modpack of desire and install it
