#Joker Ideas (not balanced probably)

Pity System (Uncommon, 8$) - Gains +1 mult whenever a positive chance (ex. Lucky Card and Wheel of Fortune, not stuff like Glass Card shatter chance) doesn't trigger

Gilded Joker (Rare, 10) - When a card would give money, it gives 2$ more

Exorcist (Uncommon, 6$) - Whenever a Joker you have has an Edition (Negative not included), remove it and gain 2 random Spectral Cards

Kuiper Belt (Rare, 8$) - Gains x0.25 mult whenever a secret hand (5OAK, Flush House, Flush Five) is played

Clownfish (Common, 4$) - Cards drawn face down are put face up and give 1$

So, how are these ideas? I think the last and third might not be all that well made, but the others seem decent to me.

Edit: I FORGOT ONE

Slot Machine (Rare, 10$) - Whenever you draw any 7s gain 1$, for each 7 drawn gain double $ for that draw (ex. a 7 = 2$, three 7s = 8$, so on, is NOT permanent and only activates for each draw then resets)

Collector (Uncommon, 5$) - Gains +25 chips and +5 mult whenever a voucher is bought

Kuiper belt is a bad idea because it spoils secret hands and slot machine get's way too strong.

Kuiper Belt would have the unlock requirement of having all three secret hands found in a run

as for Slot Machine? yeah that's kinda busted but in my defense it is a slot machine

unless you get super lucky or have an insane amount of 7s it's economy effects will probably be a similar amount to Mail-In Rebate

i dunno how else to balance it but like unless you have a ton of 7s it isn't that strong

and besides it's rare so you aren't even guaranteed to get it in a deck where you do have a lot of 7s which, by the way, in this scenario have Odd Todd as their only other synergy

Getting $16 is insane, getting $32 or $64 is even more busted

  • Pity System -- Can scale really fast with 5 card hands of Lucky cards, maybe drop it to +1 Mult per
  • Gilded Joker -- Usually Jokers cost a max of $10, this seems really strong with really specific jokers (Rough Diamond) but also requires you to set aside multiple two joker slots for econ -- I would drop its cost to $10, it's probably fine there but it does look v strong
  • Excorcist -- Interesting, very niche effect, usually editions are one of your ways of doing long term scaling, so getting rid of them shoots yourself in the foot, but 2 spectrals could be really strong. This effect procs very rarely and loses you a lot, but it's probably ok?
  • Kuiper Belt -- Scales fast but seems reasonable given the ask
  • Clownfish -- Weird how specific this is, would need jokers that flip your cards facedown for this to be at all workable, I also don't like how this just invalidates a few bosses
  • Slot Machine -- Usually Jokers only cost $10, and way to much potential money

I feel like once you're playing modded, "spoiling" secret hands isn't so much an issue

Worst case scenario it'd be a joker that's unlocked by default but much like steel or glass jokers, can only spawn in a run after you've made at least one secret hand

  • Fair enough. I thought +2 Mult may have been enough, but +1 seems fairer. Lucky cards do have two chancss, after all.
  • Also fair. I'll update to that.
  • Yeah, it's just like "extra spectrals". Also notable is that you can buy any joker with an enhancement then sell it after if you just wanna do that. And besides, getting editions to begin with is tough considering both your options in the base game are low chances.
  • Yeah. I was thinking "maybe should be x0.2?" but i mean you'd need to be playing secret hands a lot anyway and besides, they're strong enough at base as is so stalling is usually hard
  • Definitely fair. I tried thinking of a few effects for it, but ultimately just wanted to include the idea in some way.

also just for fun i'll make some unlock ideas

Pity System - Have 100 chances fail

Gilded Joker - Make over 50$ from a single round

Exorcist - Same as the Clairvoyance achievement (no joker already has this, right?)

Kuiper Belt - Have all three secret hands in a single run

Clownfish - Have five or more face down cards in your hand

Slot Machine - Have a full held hand with only one rank in it

Collector - Have 12 Vouchers at a single time

Kuiper Belt's unlock condition could be "Get every planet" to slightly obscure the secret hands
