btw im very proud of myself that I managed to find a way to make the little tarot card flip conversion effect work here
but this made me realize that this Joker def needs some nerfing
I think halving the probability might do the trick
from 1 in 2 to 1 in 4
just make it convert after play
could do that but I think the chance of it turning your straight into a straight flush is kinda cool
there are limits to this though if it activates on a two pair it wont convert that to a flush unless you have Splash or Four Fingers, since its only converting the scored hand
I think the way this works as is is pretty cool

Trying to implement Business Trading card and its giving me trouble. Whatever I try, if a card gets dissolved while being scored it always gets added back to the deck as a ghost card. and then this happens in subsequent rounds
@vocal laurel do you know a solution to this problem by chance? I tried looking at mods like JankJonklers who have Jokers with similar effects like Fortuno but I couldnt figure it out even by referencing their code

you see how compared to the original the entire thing looks a lot brighter, but not in a good way, almost like a white layer was put over it at a low opacity? thats basically that

yea, it's why in a lot of art the black doesn't contrast well
but in game it gets darker
which can get annoying sometimes because you need to check how it looks ingame all the time

I tried destroying with a delay so it does it immediately after its scored but that caused ghost cards
i looked at 6th sense and i couldnt for the life of me find any instance of it actually destroying a card in the code idk how it does that
theres no start_dissolves or anything
i guess its maybe the return statement but again I think that would cause it to destroy the whole hand since the condition for 6th sense is if the whole hand is one card

what do we think about this, I took the original and replaced all the spilled kerosene rainbow colors with colro samples from a real picture of that
its a subtle change but the colors for that element of it are a bit muted now

i think having the colder colours be darker and the warmer colours be lighter would help with that

specific mods, though, that's a whole other story

added a third option to the color selector to allow changing the default color of the background swirls during Small/Big Blinds in gameplay
if only the ui centering on that wasnt being annoying about it when switching from a preset that has 3 colors to 2 colors
would love to also implement a final profile that just has input boxes like the one used for the seed input that allows you to enter a custom hex code

yeah i looked into how Trance works and as much as I'd love to change up the color schemes for UI as well its got some other issues besides not having the features i mentioned previously like colors breaking when switching in a run so i'll hold off for now on that

average value per ante on runner is +60 chips
in order for depressed brother to be comparable to runner, it'd have to get +60 each ante that it can proc, so around +180 on average
lets say youd proc it 2-3 times before winning
thats 60-90 cchips per proc
yeah this shit sucks lol
however, if you get really lucky, it can work

yesterday i found out that not only did balatro collab with cyberpunk but cyberpunk collabed with balatro and theres a secret quest in the game
time to start my 7th or whatever new cyberpunk playthrough

Is it intended for this joker ||to heavily slow down the game while you have it||??? Spoiled cause on the one hand it could be a bug but on the other hand it very well could be intentional
that might be unrelated to that joker
theres a memory leak with achievements
we made it better it used to keep slowing down gradually until the game crashed from no memory left but its still eating frames badly

No I’m pretty sure it’s that Joker. Like I’ll get the Joker, then slowly the game begins to eat frames
Eventually going down to like 20 FPS over the course of the run
And then if I exit to main menu everything goes back to normal
actually @wanton spear another thing i wanted to check on, i dont think vinny unlocked charity stream or green needle after beating a run on green deck.
i got Very Expensive Joker out of a booster pack and it didnt spend any of my money to obtain, despite it saying it should do that

if its possible btw i think itd be good to make the green deck unlocks trigger when the game senses you have red stake unlocked for green deck that way you dont need to replay a run
i got odious joker and instantly saw frame drops
well the moment it changed forms i did
memory-wise i didnt see it jump any higher than usual
interesting. will look into it (ill make keku look into it cause idk why thatd happen)
one thing i did notice however was that the cpu usage was about twice as high as usual

My game also crashes on startup (technically it only crashses during the intro animation, but I can skip it and avoid the crash)
However, it does crash everytime I try to view Page 13 in my Joker collection
watching the stream vod and this mod is super nice and polished i love it

Got another crash after installing this mod. I believe this error is related to this mod, based on what I'm seeing

Also, I've found another bug with this mod
Everytime you switch/reset profiles ingame, the music will start over, but the previous instance of music is still there, so you keep stacking more and more of the song each time you do it (turning off the music only mutes the first instance)
this one is a Steamodded bug
i've fixed that bug and i'll be pushing that along with some other fixes soon

Played for a bit this morning and had some fun ngl. Definitely feel like if there’s sleeve stacking in the future Cardsauce cards could appear 6x as much,though I’d imagine something like this isn’t a major priority atm (I’d like to blame the ADHD thoughts for this idea)

yeah in future updates i would like to overhaul the mod to be generally more friendly with options
the title screen i dont really have an excuse for but for the deck skins its mostly like that cause i wanted to replace the default colors. I wanted to add an option to go back to the normal color scheme but if i did that it would make it so that every card is displayed on the customize deck menu which imo takes away from the focus on the face card art
and i cant place deck skins before friends of jimbo or defaults
so i had to replace them and add them back in
its a big pain im hoping the deck skin api gets overhauled on stuff like that

seems that the issue there was that the juice_up function gets run before the seal is put on the card
juice up seems to refresh the card so the game knows that its not new additions for scoring
works for meat now

it seems like it also has to do with the new additions having to be outside of event blocks
which means they need to be changed immediately

ok i got the triggering of seals to work on meat but i think i'm just gonna say fuck it with dis joaker for now because if I want to get it to work properly I have to use it in the set_ability function outside of an event block with the delay_sprites arg set to true but if it rolls a stone card on the random conversion then the ability sets the card to blank for a sec before the sprite is updated because stone cards dont have a suit or rank and it looks so bad and i hate it

i dont think theres any jokers in vanilla that give enhancements like dis joaker does
midas mask is the closest example
and its giving an enhancement that doesnt trigger in played hand at all
theres no precedent really

seal the deal (cryptid) doesnt apply the new seal effects on the played cards
that was intentional but it is pretty weak compared to card sharp (then again card sharp is really good)

well considering that chat typically erupts into "melpert..." type messages whenever he fucks up, maybe it can scale in strength with things that can be considered misplays? such as playing 4 cards when the boss blind expects 5 or having a hand of only debuffed cards
its less of an interesting idea the more i typed but i thought i might as well finish the thought
I thought about that too I was considering maybe in 3 circumstances the card could game X amount of +mult, trigger a boss blind, when a played hand socres less than 10% of a blind, and when skipping a booster pack (dehydrated makes your melpert look bigger), stuff along those lines
it should also speak the entire "my dearest melpert" copypasta when it triggers
(maybe not literal voice)
The art could be a rendition of the chad image from the compilation video emulating the font from the 'My Dearest...' copy pasta to say 'My Dearest Joker' as a way to fit Joker onto the card, and maybe censoring the lower part of the card to play into the obscenity joke? Just some ideas
i wonder how hard itd be to get the font that the copypasta uses in chat to show up in the game
swapping out the default font is pretty easy with Trance but if you're suggesting just like one description in the mod to have a specific font i have no idea how that would be doable

if u think about it gros michel is literially just a direct upgrade, +15 mult and it being destroyed isnt even a downside its what you want
i think it just giving +10 mult is funny and not out of line for a normal joker

I fixed the jokers not unlocking on that if thats what you're referring to
was thinking it could check for if red stake was unlocked on green deck instead, so you dodnt have to complete another run on green deck to unlock them after the patch
