By flair alone, it should be an enhancement type, not an edition. Companies want to print cool versions of their cards and make them extra rare to obtain, not a bent card that would immediately spoil the game by allowing the player to cheat when drawing/shuffling.

But by making it an enhancement you are essentially making it better balanced too! Copying an edition bent card with chips or mults would make it too consistent. However, making it an enhancement type would allow you to play the hands you want to play consistently, but they are still not going to be good cards, just a neat thing to help with a four-of-a-kinds or maybe five-of-a kinds type of run.

The game consistently treats "enhancements" as spoiling a card by drawing on top of it, getting it worn out by playing it so much, or in this suggestion's case, "bending it" to cheat.

maybe call it marked instead of bent

And because it’s bent, you would also be able to recognise them drawn face-down!

# opaque remnant why is like 90% of your reasoning just irl stuff that has nothing to do with bal...

The game has a lot of flair-related balancing. Anyway, while I recognize that real-life-related flair should not be a priority and balancing should come first, your original suggestion is not very balanced. I provided a decent argument as to why an enhancement would be better suited than an edition, gameplay-wise.

If you turn a bent card into a steel and get a copy engine to start duplicating it, you've basically won the run, and is going to go far in endless. Currently duplicating any edition steel cards is still not a guaranteed win and you have to do a lot to thin your deck to get there.

#

this would be fine as an edition probably

tender shuttle
#

editions are typically like, shaders or textures added on TOP of a card

#

making it bent feels more like an enhancement thing

#

enhancements "mess up" a card

#

plus how would you bend steel, gold, or stone for example

bent is a cool idea though I agree an enhancement would be a cool feature ! And probably serve better

#

Though I feel like it’s use is j way too niche ngl

This is a cool idea but I think it kind of takes the pokerness out of Balatro. Poker is entirely random which is part of its core design. Its a fun idea but I think for sure but it might be better as a mod. Besides, you can already increase the likelihood of getting the card you want on your first hand if you duplicate it enough

Why not make bent card, something like Holographic, Polygraphic and ect.... ? Instead of an upgrade as Multi, Lucky

I think bent as an edition is fine, although pulling every bent card at once kind of ruins the purpose, so maybe guaranteed to pull one bent card per play/discard could balance it more
or having a chance to unbend itself on play

Hmm lets do the opposiste of glass card

#

When you play the card it has 1/? Chance to bent, and this chance increase with how many time you play it, when it became bent it give you the ability to see 1 corner of the card if it's hide and maybe a stat boost

Ok so quick fix to my message what i described here could be 2 thing, 1 it could be a joker, but giving the joker the hability to channge your whole deck is kinda overpowered, so why not make it a seal, then we could add the possibility to add this seal with Taro or Soul card

@opaque remnant I was wondering. May I use this idea in a mod?
