it includes all of its dependancies in the download (might be outdated versions of them, so if u have any problems then try downloading the newest release of ‘em)

I keep getting a stack overflow when i play any hand with this joker. it also happens with "Jolly Joker?" (the one with the m face) I know they cause it because selling them fixes it.
Also most of the time when crashing doesnt even catch the error, the game just fully exits. Would send the crash log but the game doesnt stay open for me to copy it and i dont know where the log is stored if there is one
weird because neither of them have anything to do with scoring calculation
All right, I tried to fix it for a long time now and I'm absolutely stumped. New calc steamodded, old calc steamodded, stripped down all the mods down to cryptid and it's still crashing when cashing out post-round-win. (First run, new run, nothing special at all collected.)
Anyone smarter than me have any ideas, please?
I'm having a strange issue where my cards don't score when played. This has happened in both the negative deck and the Deja Vu deck
haven't tried other decks yet, but it wasn't specific to one deck
Try different steamodded versions. Had that on some versions, and other errors on other versions.

is there something i dont know about that makes the "calculating" part faster (or atleast not drop to a frame per minute once it reaches ~800mil) bcs i would love to reach the limits of talisman scoring, but so far it seems impossible for me. i just spent 19h waiting for a scoring only to alt+f4 because it dropped down to doing one calculation per minute
and my pc isnt reaching its limits, nothing is over 50% of utilization

that’s just a part of the “double-sided” edition. when something is double sided, you can select it and a non-double-sided card to put the other card on the other side of the d-s card, then you can flip it whenever you want to access either side

There's certain Jokers that it's REALLY good for, because You can switch the Joker off on command to avoid it doing something negative. Or getting destroyed under specific circumstances.
Also it lets You merge other jokers to the flip joker, even if there's already a Joker on that side so You can overwritte either side at any moment iver time.
I've been sleeping on it a long time, but it's really powerful. Just more strategic than raw power.
Haven't tried it with cursed Jokers yet. If those can get merged too than a flip joker is an easy joker delete card too.

It's normally works with Cryptid, but unfortunately it has already been updated to support bettercalc (which means it won't run on the older steamodded version that Cryptid currently used)

There's the older version of it on the old_calc branch that would work with Cryptid current version, but you won't find 161 meme rank there because it's a part of the bettercalc update

ok i found out what causes the crash, playing a hand when you have the ||Double Scale|| Joker once and the ||Scalae|| Joker twice crashes the game

Oh, btw for anyone having any weird crashes they can't quite pinpoint: try running on a new profile. I have been struggling for several days, then finally just created a new profile, unlocked everything through the setting in the profile to make sure I have any and all stuff that could cause problems unlocked - no errors. Same setup on original profile - immediate crash. Seems profiles might get slightly bonked by some mods over time. Permanently.
What do I do with old calc? Like do I replace the files in smod or-
use it instead of the other one. Delete the other completely

if still getting issues, try going from old calc (1304a) back to 1220a that comes with one of the cryptid packages. Depending on what other mods you run, compatibility of all parts may vary

How does Hooked work? I dont really understand it
Yeah, it's confusing. It seems to work on 'triggers', and both cards need to trigger at the same part of game.
As in: during multi calculation, or during reroll, or during post game held-in-hand gold countdown, etc. It needs to be similar context.
So then when it naturally counts to one of the hooked cards it re-triggers the other one once.
And if you hook multiple cards tot he same one, then the card that gets hooked multiple times only remembers the last hook, but the others still refer to it.
Example:
You hook card a and card b. Card A now hooks to card b, and card b to card a. Then You hook card a and card c. Card a now hooks to card c, card c hooks to card a, but card b still hooks to card a even though card a doesn't hook to card b any more.

Between Cryptid and a few other mods I have installed I have lots and lots of decks. I would like to unlock stakes up to orange stake for all of my decks so I can move into the new stakes introduced by Cryptid. However, I do not want to unlock everything. Is there a way to accomplish this? Googling it only turns up suggestions for the mod Faster Stakes Unlock by Wiwiweb, but that mod is either defunct or incompatible with my modlist because it did not work when I tried it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I meant Steamodded, it should be on the main Balatro page. 1.0.0~ALPHA-1314D-STEAMODDED I believe is the newest (as I updated it earlier), and the Refactor should say 0.5.3c.
Slightly, however you then do need to ensure you use the Refactor branch as you'll be useing the BetterCalc version of Steamoded. The newer Steamoded breaks the standard Cryptid right now due to code changes.

Yes, however it may break some other mods if you use a lot of mods if they weren't already updated for BetterCalc. You're best just going for the Old_Calc version of Steamoded at the moment if you've got loads of mods.

Yes, you first have to download the Lovely injector from here: https://github.com/ethangreen-dev/lovely-injector/releases/tag/v0.6.0
Then follow the above steps for Steamoded (I'd suggest the newest Master) then the Cryptid Mod from the Refactor branch (although it is still Alpha) as well as the newest Talisman mod. This way you'll get the most up to date versions of the mods. If you need any more help, please feel free to ask. The Lovely injector is indeed classed as a virus however it's a false positive due to it being a memory editing injector.

So the version.dll goes into the main Balatro game folder, you can use Steam to access that folder. Then your mods will go into %appdata%/Roaming/Balatro/Mods/.

Yes, exactly in there. 😄 You should also be able to copy this %appdata%/Roaming/Balatro and paste it into the Windows Explorer Address bar and it'll direct you into the other folder you'll need, where you'll then create a new folder called Mods and that's where you'll extract the zip files for the mods. You'll however have to delete any tag normally -main from the newly extracted folders.
Also don't worry, I'm also partly autistic so I try to explain in the best ways possible. Secondly, the only dumb questions are the ones left unasked.

That's fine as it is, so you'll extract those three downloaded files into that new Mods folder, ensuring that if there's anything like -main in the folder, that it's renamed to remove that part.

I do also recommend that you use something like 7-Zip to extract the .zip files to ensure that they do extract properly. I don't particularly trust Windows to unzip them properly.
So you can install it into the same folder that your current Cryptid installation is in, however you'll need to delete the entire contents of the folder first, or just delete the Cryptid folder, then install it into your normal Mods folder.

Yep, exactly like that. So you'll now rename to remove the -refactor and the -main parts, then you'll have it fully installed. You'll know if it works as when you boot Balatro, you'll see the DOS Terminal, then it'll boot into your Steamodded Balatro, and you'll see the new Mods menu.

Yep, exactly like that. You can now boot the game as normal, and it should be modded. You can also install other mods into that folder by doing the exact same method, this is also the same with updating mods, however you'll delete the originally installed folder for that specific mod before installing the new version. However as I say, the issue is due to the newer Steamodded releases which changed a lot of how it works. Hence a lot of mods are still in the process of being re-written/developed to fix the issues the newer Steamodded has caused. A lot of this is due to different variables being changed to allow for the new BetterCalc to work properly. I'd recommend reporting the issues in the Cryptid Mod Discord so their developers can actually assist.

Not really, it's the start of a new generation in the modding scene, hence why the mods are kinda playing catchup. I know all of the mod devs are working hard to fix any issues and create new releases, it wouldn't surprise me if they release another update in the next few days.
I tend to think of it more as having a Nightly style build. I know it's bound to have some issues right now, but I know the mod developers are doing their best to ensure everything works with the new BetterCalc functionality.

You could, however I do think most of the issues should be fixed properly by the end of the week for Cryptid from what I've read. As I say, it's a difficult time to judge what's for the best. Yes, so you've already replaced the Cryptid and the Steamodded folders, so do the same with the Talisman folder which is the post above this one. That'll ensure you have the latest Stable / Release builds.

i mean the point of cryptid isn't the fact it is unbalanced, that's just an expected consequence of the actual point: a mod that gave people the freedom to explore very interesting and out-of-the-box concepts that didn't have to fit in line with vanilla standards
that's why there's a limit to how "unbalanced" an idea can be despite the (misleading) namesake of the mod

Please ensure that when you move to the Refactor branch that you delete the original Cryptid mod folder entirely, then replace it with what's inside the Refactor zip. This will ensure that you're not accidentally mixing the version files leading to a crash.

Yet there should still be a log inside the lovely folder for the latest run, as lovely should always create a log once the game is booted. 😉 It might be able to provide a little more information, there could even possibly be a crash dump inside it's dump folder (even if you don't notice a crash screen).

Okay so I've noticed that you're trying to use Jen's pack, it's currently unsupported in the current BetterCalc state. I believe that may be why your game is crashing.

You can always take a backup of the full Balatro Save folder, which is the folder that you install the "Mods" folder into. This can be good practice, however just remember that even updating mods to different versions CAN sometimes cause issues.

Although technically you shouldn't need to update anything from the pack provided if it's created for the current version of Balatro, as it should in theory contain the newest versions of the mods (if your friend created the modpack themselves it'd be the save versions they have which you'd have installed).

Okay, my suggestion is to ensure that you've got the latest version of the game, and that you verify the files. Try using 7-Zip to extact the archive, and ensure that if any mod folder contains -main that you delete that part.

Depends on if it's the Main or the Release that you've got. If it's the Main then it could in theory create issues, however it should still work. I'd stick with the Release version for now if you're using OldCalc versions of Steamodded.

Yes, it will do as it obviously has to change how it scores your run. At the moment the dev team for Cryptid is testing and developing the new BetterCalc version (Refactor Branch) which will support the newest Steamodded and Talisman changes.

Oh. As a matte rof testing: create a new separate profile. Unlock everything on it from profile pgae setting, try on that profile
I had arithmetic errors on original profile, probably because of corruptions from previous mods, no errors of this kind on same mods on fresh profile
Has anyone else had an issue where their cards don't score at all while using this mod? Hands can be played just fine but it will just return the base score value for the hand.
Parking is the fallback xd so either you deleted every food joker or something is up

Hi, I just got this issue on my run, it's happening when i click next round to exit the shop, and when checking the blinds on run info too, so my only guess is the error has to do with the blinds. Don't know if this has occurred to anyone before
I even disabled all other other mods other than cryptid and talisman (they were only texture changes, but just to see if it worked) and it still gives the same issue
