#Difficulty

Honestly, not sure I feel like there should definitely be an easier difficulty than the current demo one but I also enjoy the difficulty would also just be a little hard for beginners or people who are not exactly sure what the game is about
I feel like it’s a good one for people who understand the game and at least a little bit know what they’re doing, but for the people who are playing their first round, I feel like there should be at least one difficulty lower.
For me, it is pretty difficult, but in a way I enjoy, the lack of tarots due to the extra packs makes it pretty hard to edit your deck, but it makes an interesting challenge
I feel like with the available decks being quite powerful and joker combos going crazy, white stake in current demo is a good basis for difficulty; winning isn't free, but not too difficult either. Overall, it makes me want to see higher difficulty levels as they will surely be more challenging.
Agree with this. The current difficulty level is what I would expect from stake level 2 or 3. Some things can be a bit unforgiving for new players, and maybe not really fun.
It's hard to tell because I've played the previous demo for 100h so this one was on the easy side for me
I thought that this was easier than last demo, but it might just be because I played more
the synergies among the jokers are really awesome
the decks are quite powerful as well
the bosses also make the game decently challenging
Having second thoughts after friends reminding me I like difficult games (not trying to brag or what) ; if I find the difficulty of this demo fine, then in fact it's surely a bit high for new players or people who get too much frustrated by losing repetitively. 😅
Bosses def contribute to the difficulty here. Water was nasty in the old demo but this new roster feels more threatening
Who is more brutal?
🌊 The Water
🔔 Cerulean Bell
I'm biased towards Water because I discard a lot. God I hated this boss blind, killed so many promising runs (which makes it a good boss).
Water wasn't that hard. You just needed to buy scoring stuff more aggressively in the third ante. Your decisions during the fight were mostly straightforward
Cerulean bell asks more involvement from the player, you have to think about each discard and play, you have to prepare beforehand if you feel like bell might counter your deck
This one feels more challenging than the previous demo, because bosses are not randomized, and final boss is definitely harder than the previous demo. I think previous demo could only be considered "harder" until you figure out how to consistently beat water, after that it's pretty trivial.
With this demo, the difficulty definitely feels harder, but there's more powerful stuff to help you along the way, so it may feel easier, for those who are already experienced
Water has kinda the same issues than Bell; for Bell, it happens that it just selects something that doesn't belong in your winning hand and you can't do a thing. Water, as you get to see less cards, if shuffler doesn't deals you what you need, you're 100% screwed (this happened a lot more to me than Bell trolling me). Both have workaround strategies, the main difference is you have less time and means to prepare for Water than for Bell, which is why I find it harder.
Also, I find this demo easier because of wacky jokers: with a good enough lineup you can just play whatever and still win (works for Bell, too).
I think a lot of the difficulty in this version comes from a lot of the jokers being very specific, or not mult heavy. With the hand based jokers giving chips instead of mult it almost seems like it makes the game harder, paired with the fact that if you get a joker thats based on suit, you now don't have guaranteed Arcana packs that would be likely to give you something like The World to make more of one suit. With less mult focused cards, but a lot of multiplier cards, it seems harder to me
My water experience usually was buying something like a banana and getting away with playing a few trash hands if I don't get what I want. You can't solve bell this way because your joker lineup is already complete. Late game Water will be way more scary in the full game.
Both bosses incentivize not just focusing on your ideal hand but noticing every single scoring opportunity. This is why they're so brutal for new players
This demo is definitely much more fun than the last one though
I once lost a run while having a hack, an invis which turned into hack and a brainstorm because I didn't get a single +mult
I lost on the Ante 2 big blind it was really painful
I would say it’s too random at the moment also till demo point it’s ok but looking at higher bids non of my runs would scale to them
the only hard part ive run into has been ante 5 wall and cerulean bell, otherwise this demo is just fun and a good difficulty
As example about rng, played deck with the double tag added after boss, but to be honest there wasn't any good moment to spend them, mostly skips where meh. Also while the build was quite solid I almost lost due to rng at last round.
This is definitely the most difficult of the demos I’ve played but I don’t think it’s unfairly difficult or anything, and I’ve found strategies using the current available jokers to get wins fairly often
Currently winning using a flush seems too easy but the game is globally well balanced! GG!
Try not doing flush lol
We also found out that it was not easy to use the joker that increases its MULT according to the number of cards in deck. It is not retroactive (only starts counting when you buy it). Much easier to use the joker that scales on the tarot cards used (this one also counts from the beginning of the game). Maybe exchange the moment they start counting between each other? 🤔
hologram is hard to scale this demo due to the lack of sources that cards can be generated
iirc only from spectral packs (cryptid, incantation, familiar, grim etc.), and standard packs
outside the demo, there are other methods like the commonly used BP DNA combo
