Design notes: I had burning cards as a motif in mind even before I saw the similarly named Joker in the wiki. The theme makes me thing of card destruction and high-risk high-reward plays. Since that mechanical niche is filled by Glass Cards, I decided to take a different approach.
Destroying and discarding cards felt thematically similar to me, despite the former's greater finality. The higher availability of discards when compared to the limited number of cards you can play or hold per hand made me think the reward should be inconsistent and relatively small. Still, gaining a bonus without needing to go out of your way to do so seems pretty strong.
Ideally a tarot card would give players easy access to them, but with them already assigned effects maybe you they could be obtained in a different way. If acquiring them is significantly difficult, the benefit could be increased as compensation.
