#New Spectral Idea

does the player choose how the tarots act (for tarots that add enchants, remove cards, or copys cards)\
nope
too many bad effects for a spectral ngl
it could get some bad effects to happen but usually the upside should be way bigger
"the upside should be way bigger"
tbh this really just looks like the payoff won't be worth trying
guess i'm the only one who thinks that 5 tarots are on average at least decent
the frequency of the suit tarots:
okay but
imma be real
you have a 2/11 chance of getting a single suit changing tarot
and a 4/11 chance for a random card enhancement
not to mention
you can't control what you wanna do for the tarots, which will make people skeptical about it alot
to you it may seem like that tbh
the chance that you get money or free cards is pretty high, and on top of that you get a few card buffs and maybe even a useful planet. overall pretty good imo
random planets doesn't seem too good with me chief
never said they were
I actually think this is a really strong Spectral. Spectrals are already rather unpredictable and come with a downside, and while this is absolutely hugely unpredictable, I think there's barely any downsides here. Here's how I'd rank all the Tarots if they were played with this effect.
The Fool, The High Priestess, The Emperor, Judgement: Practically always an upside since they just give you free cards, as long as you have room.
The Magician, The Empress, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, The Devil, Wheel of Fortune: Also always beneficial even if you can't choose what cards they buff.
Justice, The Tower: Potentially destructive if they change a key card, but they still give their benefits regardless.
Strength, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, The World: Same as above, but with a slightly lower payoff if you can't choose what happens.
The Hermit, Temperance: It's free money.
The Hanged Man, Death: Probably the only two you never want to see.
For a lot of builds, there's very little that can go wrong and a lot that can go right. Plus, you still get 5 planets, and even if random planets isn't the best they're still way better than nothing, and I'd appreciate the safety cushion of a few extra points when I can't make the hand I'm building around. I'd take this pretty often if it was in game.
Actually, this is potentially even better than I thought in some ways. I was thinking of it randomly working on all cards in your deck, but it would actually only work on specifically cards in your drawn hand. Therefore, you do get to see exactly what could be affected and can choose not to use it if needed.
||when I had this idea I actually thought it would apply to random cards in your deck but then I remembered that spectrals always draw cards before use||
the card type changing cards can screw you over if they hit some glass or steel card you were trying to use
Maybe you get to see what you got and the order that they'll trigger?
