#Bricklayer Joker: Stone cards can fill gaps in straights

Straights are notoriously more difficult than other hands to string together and generally get hurt by most deck modifications. A joker that lets stones act as wild ranks for straights would both make it easier to string together straights and allow more deck modifications.

also makes it feel nicer to take stone cards, makes them feel less like clutter lategame

Also allow maybe give flush stones to the joker

Only "problem" i see with this is that instead of filling gaps in straights you'd ideally just end up playing 5 stone cards and getting a free multiplier which could be overpowered but that also sounds like a really interesting build and getting stone cards isn't too easy so idk

All it does is bump a 5 stone hand from high card to straight at the cost of a joker slot, not that bad to me

250 chip straight 👀

What does the stone card do again?

+50 chips to hand played, but no suit or rank

so it can help hands that only require 4 or less cards

Yeah i think bricklayer is pretty solid

Love the idea but I think it's too situational and you'd never really buy it in game.

In the early game you don't have stone cards yet so if I have to choose between bricklayer and +4 mult I'd just take +4 mult. In the late game you'll have figured out a way to make your straights consistent and you probably won't have picked up many stone cards along the way because those don't synergize with straights. That leaves a narrow window in the middlegame with a very narrow range of decks where you'd be likely to buy bricklayer from the shop.

Maybe if you know the joker exists you'd build your deck differently but it seems a little artificial. Maybe if you have four fingers you could get bricklayer as an upgrade

But, I think I'd prefer a straight up card effect called "wild rank" as you were describing it, that you can get from a tarot card!

idk maybe if you play straights and you have a joker slot and it's like 4$ you'd pick it up. Maybe it's not that bad.

#

Hm I think I talked myself into liking it.

Lollll yeah just a situational joker that helps straights out without breaking other stuff 🙂
