#Four color cards

Four color cards (that is: hearts are red, spades are black, clubs are green, and diamonds are blue) would help with accessibility in a few ways, and even without any disability, are my much preferred way of looking at card suits.

Much easier to tell at a glance what you're looking at, and it's happened more than a couple of times when I'm sleepy that I've mistaken clubs for spades or vice versa with the default filters and pixelation.

Please consider this feature! Apologies if it's been asked for already; I did a search and didn't find anything.

Edit: it would ideally be a toggleable option, of course. Not the default.

Edit the Second: I am aware that spades and clubs are slightly different colors and it has still happened to me! Needs more contrast. Hearts and diamonds are much more distinct to my eyes, but may as well go full four color.

Yeah, I already edited the post to point out my awareness of this. Thanks!

I would agree though, perhaps a slider similar to the CRT effect slider

Come to think of it, perhaps there should be an option to use cards that look like this

Diamonds should definitely not be blue, the current orange well has enough contrast with the red of hearts. I agree with the spades and clubs have very similar colours and a lightening of the green for clubs would be quite helpful

I’ll make the high vis cards a different suggestion

Played poker professionally for some years, can confirm. And all modern poker clients offer this option (thankfully). It's just nicer to glance at and tell immediately what's going on!

Keeping orange + red but adding green would be strange visually. The 4 color scheme works so well because the colors all contrast to a significant degree. Having two colors still be similar hues would be strange.

Found a set that has the same colours as the game

I'm sure they exist, it's just not the standard.

Just reword the card. "Spades and clubs are considered the same suit; hearts and diamonds are considered the same suit." Or something less wordy.

#

Or use symbols instead of words to denote the suits in the description. Make the color whatever the chosen color preference is.

Well, the suits are still called “red” and “black”, aren’t they?

If you made it an option but made what it currently is default, you can still use the "black/red" wording

misty kraken
#

Yeah, it's sort of inconsequential, and there are about a thousand ways to "solve" it.

#

And yes, the intention would be for the default to remain so! Just an accessibility/preference option.

Want to confirm I've heard a friend say near this same thing.

Yeah. You get in a rhythm, clicking away, and then only one card in your hand gets scored, and you go, "Ah hell, I've done it again."

#

Flush builds play themselves and it's easy to get lost in thought and overlook that you've played a club in your spade flush.

#

In that case, you should probably just be sorting by suit, as the game does helpfully separate the red and black cards (though this is actually frustrating when you have the smeared joker), but sometimes you're just playing a flush when sorting by rank, too.

I would agree that I'd vastly prefer greener clubs, like a traditional four color deck

Those are less "high contrast" and more "colorblindness cards" If I'm being honest, as someone who is nearsighted but doesn't have colorblindness, my preferences are "four color deck mod" > "high contrast" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "default"

#

I don't like yellow diamonds, but the default colors make clubs and spades WAY too hard to differentiate by color.

#

Like, the one change that localthunk could make that I would be happy with is making the default deck have greener clubs

#

I still prefer blue diamonds but I'd live with yellow.

I like yellow diamonds personally (mostly because in non french pattern decks diamonds is called ouros, golds (as in gold coins). But really, the way to make everyone happy would be have a menu with RGB bars for all 4 suits and let people color them whatever.
