how does one obtain mods? I just bought Balatro and have been wanting to try out the cryptid
Most mods will be found in #1209506514763522108 just by searching for them. With an especially large mod like Cryptid though, it's easiest to just google "github balatro cryptid" and it'll be the first result probably.
How do I replace the vanilla content in Balatro with my own stuff? I just made a bunch of consumables that I want to replace the original spectral cards, but I don't know how to make the new spectral cards replace the original ones.
If I try to just disable the vanilla spectral cards with mods like Banner then it just gives the default Incantation
even though my new cards have the same names and keys and stuff it's like the game doesn't even acknowledge their existence and only uses the vanilla stuff

For the second time now I've had playing cards lose their faces. First with a king where I am sure all I did was use the devil tarot on it. And now a modded joker that creates aces has been making blank looking cards when before it never had any problems. This image is of 3 aces. I just thought that before I go digging for solutions, is this actually just a known issue caused by an SMods update or something? The cards seem to look fine after drawing them in a different round.

cards being changed from stone or being created with a rank and a suit dont show sprites until something updates the face sprite again

it's because musical suit is ancient and suits/ranks are one of the few things where a compat layer to the smods 0.9.8 infrastructure just wasn't possible

Has anyone else had this problem while playing Modded with Multiplayer/Cryptid and have a solution? It was vs mode and the boss blinds were disabled so it wasn't due to that. It kept drawing cards face down and then my deck was stating something like 146/52 cards left. I am new to this discord so if this isn't the right place please let me know and I will delete this and put it in the correct channel.

i dunno if this will help but:
- replace talisman with amulet
- vallkarri is very out of date, replace it with valk:redux
this is a cryptid crash, if you have the one legendary joker with the masks and any non-joker in your joker slots it crashes when calculating the xmult
because someone was Stupid
cryptid, the mod that adds various methods to add non jokers to joker slots assuming all cards in joker slots will have a rarity

Crash logs are a steamodded thing, the vanilla crash logs setting was only for betas
So if you only have lovely mods and no steamodded you dont get logs

steamodded fixed an issue with version dependencies recently which made some mods that were using the wrong one not work
you can fix it by going to that mod's json file and deleting the steamodded dependency line

Hi i need some help- Ive had balatro on steam for over a year now i think and i got over 160hrs on the game and 70% completed. Me and my friend decided to try modding our games with the LOVE injector and it worked amazing and all of that until i got a new pc and tried to reset to what i had before modded. After i reset my balatro (all I really did was verify files on steam) my game started bugging out and sometimes even crashing my pc. Most the time it doesnt crash until ive gone thru half a run and it slowly looses frames until it crashes.
I have tried everything I can think of to fix it but it really just seems like my steam did a backup of my modded version and refuses to reset all of my files. I did fatfinger and accidentally deleted all of my progress while attempting to fix this so im willing to do whatever now. I would really appreciate the help :(

But you would make an atlas with atlas_table = "ANIMATION_ATLAS" and then use that for the joker, with each row in the spritesheet being a full animation
Are you getting any crash log or crash screen when the game shuts down? And is there still a mods folder in your balatro folders?

All I have is smodded, ofc, I also use Saturn, card sleeves, cryptid and talisman, that’s it
You don't necessarily need to uninstall Multiplayer. You can install other mods just like you did Multiplayer no problem
Saturn is known to be a pretty buggy mod. Try using Handy instead
I should point out I tried disabling Saturn and it still happened

Talisman lets your score above naneinf, but has some major compatibility issues. Amulet does the same but with better compat

Hello 🙂 I am (attempting) to help my nephew launch a Balatro mod and I am a bit low on the learning curve. He is using PC and has launched multiple mods (JokerDisplay, Multiplayer, Talisman, etc.) successfully, but the game crashes when we attempt to use Deck Creator. We receive the attached error when attempting to launch the game. I tried uninstalling the mod and reinstalling from this link https://github.com/adambennett/Balatro-DeckCreator/releases/tag/v1.2.2 with no luck. Would anyone kindly point me in the right direction?

Is there any way of getting balatros current version.dll? I think my game is missing it since the whole thing went down.. i seriously cant play the game at all and it feels like i waste of money :(
weirdly enough i noticed that there is fps drops for sometime until unplayable but if i go to the home menu before it crashes it resets??

though that shouldn't really matter. it's safe to remove from a modded game. not sure what could have happened there, but maybe steam cloud messed something up... if something in the actual game files is wrong, you can reset those by verifying game files on steam.
does the issue occur from a new profile? if not, we could try reconstructing your progress in a different profile
I suspect that my steam cloud is messed up cause it doesnt matter how many times i verify or reinstall the problem still occurs. I have tested to play on other profiles but nothing changes
I did some more googling since im very much out of ideas of whatever this could be and I ran into some weird thing. I read that some people experience crashes when they have to much fps? Someone said something about playing with over 500fps can mess with vsync and cause weird strain on the gpu. I usually play with vsync off but I turned it on and so far no crashes have happened.. Is this weird fps cap usual problems that occurs in the support requests?
it's far from common and definitely system-specific, but it's not unheard of either. Could well be it
Balatro seems quite sensitive to running hardware on the edge in my experience (I've seen loads of crashes related to built-in XMP/EXPO, overclocked CPUs) depending on the system, so I could definitely believe that this is a thing

make sure you're exactly following the install instructions. you probably put the file in the wrong location
did you put it next to balatro.exe?
you need to replace version.dll in the same folder where Balatro.exe lives

Hey, Im new to downloading and running mods and I've run into some trouble. I've got all the files i needed in the mods folder of balatro to run cryptid mod, but when I boot up the game i get this error and i have no idea what it means. That is a lot of mods, so one might be out of date in the sense that its developer never accounted for smods updates or something.
Try removing/re-adding mods to see what works and what doesn't.
Turn off malverk, disable alternate stake chip textures in pokermon config and then turn malverk on again

it is required for texture packs usually, though some mods allow enabling alternate textures otherwise

Somewhere, anywhere, within this mess of 42 mods is either something that's really outdated, or two or more mods trying to patch the same section of code, in such a way that the final product has a syntax error. And the log does not say what mod(s) are the cause.
You're gonna have to remove mods until you find out what exactly is causing this issue through sheer trial and error.

Just tried that, unfortunately it did not seem to help
So, I was working on a mod ~6 months ago, and now when I tried to launch the game it freezes, so I moved all my mods out of the mod folder, and the game only started working again after I removed steammodded. I think I have tried every version of steammodded from 1.0.0 beta-0301a to 1503a (I have spent at least 3 hours trying to fix this), with 3 different versions of lovely each (0.71, 0.8, and 0.9), but the game just freezes. I am on windows 10 if that matters. (I have already tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and it still causes the freeze when I add steammodded)
(I am on v1.0.1o-full btw)
Does anyone know why this might be happening/how to fix?

not with the api AFAIK, you would need to animate it manually with card.children.center:set_sprite_pos

This might be useful for other people. I was trying to use the Takanaka Balatro sound pack replacement following the makers instructions, which relied on using Penumbra. That method seems to be broken for some people, so I was able to do a workaround:

Have you tried deleting your profiles? I know it's less than ideal but there's a chance something like Talisman may have corrupted it

In this case the location of the crash doesn't immediately give a clue as to what went wrong. Looking at the code around that location in your lovely dumps can help, in this case Mods/lovely/dump/card.lua:2222
